Re: MATCHWATCH : Mansfield Town (a)

a couple of stats that I've been looking into; we've been caught off side 45 times this season. only Mansfield have been caught off side fewer times on 38. Now whilst this isn't a table we want to be top of, it does indicate that we don't get into many attacking situations. and certainly shows we d...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Mansfield Town (a)

It is a working theory of mine that what largely differentiates league 1 players from premier League and championship players is poor decision making and or simply not knowing what to do with ball, rather than technical ability.

Royal Ginger I’m sure the groundsmen have their reasons but I don’t get why they’re adding MORE water to this quagmire.

I've pondered this in the past. No matter how wet the weather, groundsman will be sprinting it further during warm ups

Re: Sunday afternoon distraction - most famous XI

Jason Roberts was a genuine premier league big time striker. More so than Long and possibly Yakunu.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

Certainly wasn’t a 4-1 game, but Arsenal’s finishing was impressive. Their entire squad were teenagers too. Shows the gulf between our academy and the top sides at the moment. Was impressed by Duah (despite the own goal). Wingers were direct. Ehibhatiomhan was the best of our first teamers; unlucky...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

Most fans who are staying away will be blissfully unaware of how well the team is/isn't playing and probably only mildly aware of the league position - why? because they are floating fans - our hardcore is probably around what we are seeing now. The key difference is people are less likely to spend...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

It's a results business for Leam to justify his methods to the owner. For fans who attend to be entertained, it's not a results business. If all you care about is points accumulated, is football really for you? Rugby has more points in a game. Football is and has always been about being excited and ...

Re: Bolton fall out

Old Man Shouts At Cloud nonsense . With the number of subs and the extended spell dealing with a particular injury, nine minutes was about right. At Orient away there were 13 minutes of added time, no bad injuries, just Reading having 3 team talks while JP sat on the floor. If you look at football ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (h)

Things that led to that goal. Savage needlessly hoofing ball away to no one under no pressure, which leads to Wing needlessly barging their player over, which leads to Pereira mysteriously punching a non dangerous free kick out, which leads to Pereira coming and missing a routine corner catch into h...

Greatwesternline We're quite bad at having throw ins in our own 3rd.

In many different eras I've always thought the same

Same. I know this sounds stupid but back in the 06/07 prem season I told my uni mates we weren't very good at throw ins, and that it felt like a routine you should be able to learn.

First season in years the pitch hasn't been a mud bucket by this time of year.

And a hell of a lot of rain recently too.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wigan Athletic (a)

Not a defender, but not quite sure what was happening at RB. Nyambe was marking the man, then someone else came across and just sort of did nothing. Nyambe decided "oh someone else is there so I don't need to bother marking him". The man doing nothing continued doing nothing. Guy crossed ...

Re: How best to approach the rest of the season

I feel like with the transfer window we've had we've spent quite a lot of money on extra wages signing on fees and transfer fees such as agent fees. And we're in all likelihood not going to be promoted. Feel it may have been better to hold the money back and target a better squad assembled well bef...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

Match day revenue in the 23/24 season was 4million according to the accounts. Average attendance was 13000. Similar to this season. 4 million divided by 23 home games is £173k per game. 173k divided by 13,000 is £13 per person - that’s how much a fan spends on a match day Increase the attendance by...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

Attendances can't bridge £1m a month. And extra 5k a game will include kids, plus you need to deduct VAT. Let's estimate £15 a ticket, that's £75k a game. 23 games plus perhaps an FA Cup draw and that's £1.8m, allegedly what they're putting in every 2 months. Perhaps extra food, merchandise etc., c...
