Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

Yeah, I'd go along with this (said very similar on the Hunt thread; I promise I wasn't cribbing). I also added that sometimes a ship seemingly full of holes has only one, and that little fix makes a surprising difference. With the right balance in midfield (Elliot/Doyle for Fraser) and/or with a de...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

Hmm. Not sure what to make of it all really. Still feel that Hunt is within a grace window what with having to start essentially from scratch this season with a new roster of players, and want to afford the same grace to those players too - it’s rare to hit the ground running, and they will of cour...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

The thing is though Bolton have had a bigger turnover of players than us in the summer and play as a completely coherent unit. This shambles is on the manager and coaches. When Pereira went down "injured" to buy a tactical break in the first half Wing clearly looked confused. I think Brog...

Re: Hunt out.

I don’t think it’s as bad as the doom-mongers make out. A few adjustments and I think the team will click. 1. Wing needs to be played further forward. I’m not sure why he’s so deep, perhaps its due to the CBs lacking confidence and someone in midfield needing to fill in the space behind, or perhaps ...

Re: Hunt out.

Nah stick with Hunt, this team just needs time to gel. Would be a bit silly to sign players for a manager and then give him just 4 games to get it right. This. Losing three on the bounce is rubs, obvs. But let’s not devolve back to a revolving door philosophy when we have all witnessed what giving ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : AFC Wimbledon (h)

Got give em a bit of grace for being a new team, and Hunt still finding the right way to play them. Though obvious eyebrows raised at Garcia on the wing, Wing and Fraser the wrong way around and Doyle on the bench. Can kinda forgive playing Kelvin upfront when we currently lack options there, but ye...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

Enjoyed that. Ahmed was brilliant. Nice to see us play with a bit of width. And reassuring we have some decent backup options around the pitch.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Lincoln City (a)

The result was worse than the performance. Clearly lacking a goal scorer, but on another day our goal would have been given and that jam doughnut of an own goal doesn’t go in. Thought we looked decent in spells. Looking forward to seeing us play when we have gelled more, and hopefully with some fres...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

It’s tricky to judge with the window yet to close, but selling one of our few creatives while seemingly struggling to get goal-scorers through the door seems crazy. I guess the plan is probably to cash in on our middle where we have the most depth and reinvest further forward. Gutted to lose Knibbs,...

Re: Show me the money

I sympathise with the view that making loan signings is just kicking the can down the road, but I do think it can be seen as having a decent placeholder while young homegrown talent gets up to speed, and books are balanced to be more aggressive in the transfer market in the future. Loans aren’t idea...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Mansfield Town (a)

like that they seem properly happy Bodin's scored. ^^^ yeah, was really good to see. same with Pereira joining in the celebrations for Wing's goal. Knibbs was brilliant. Obviously with the unselfish assist, but gesturing at us to join them on the pitch given that Bodin had actually scored. Him, Mbe...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wrexham (h)

Royal Ginger Parky obviously criticised the ref for the penalty but also mentioned the sending off in the same breath.

Right or wrong, it was certainly an odd one that is rarely enforced.

Second yellow for time wasting would be harsh enough, but it was hardly any time at all.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wrexham (h)

stealthpapes
Norwich get an assist from the ref, chests down the ball for a Norwich player to volley the ball into the top corner from outside the area.

Took my ex-missus to that game, she had a whale of a time.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Exeter City (h)

Could be the threadbare squad that leads to us struggling in weekday games that don’t leave much recovery time. Though we also seem to fluff our lines in games that we presume should be an easier win (typically home games against the lower table). Might be that we thrive off being the underdog. Or t...

Yeah, big fan of Chem. Might be a reach, but if he’s willing to re-sign maybe things aren’t completely going to shit and other players might stick around too.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Lincoln City (a)

I watched on Sky and thought at first we looked like we were pressing pretty well. Then I read we weren’t and wondered if I even really knew what pressing meant. Some lass on BBC Berks said we had “no shape”. Again, I didn’t think our shape looked that different to the one under Selles. Then I wonde...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Lincoln City (a)

Yeah, the performances and results have been a welcome distraction from the existential crisis and felt like a lifeline keeping us together. I had hoped that the magic of Selles was mostly a psychological thing that Hunt could replace; neither manager to me seem like tactical powerhouses and Reading...
