Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

I'm interested how far up the all-time goalscorers list Kane can climb. Still only 32. He is on 465 career goals, including his 74 for England. Only 26 players are officially credited with 500 career goals - Kane will no doubt become the 27th. To reach top 20 all time, and nudge above Di Stefano, he...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Winston Biscuit 10 goals in his first 6 games for Harry Kane in all comps so far this season

Should definitely be dropped by England. We'll do better without him.

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Vauxhall Conference League 25/26

Real Madrid scraped the win last night against Marseille, but their right back options imploded. TAA pulled a hamstring and will miss a few weeks - and potentially the trip to Anfield at the start of November. And Dani Carvajal will miss three games after being sent off for a headbutt.

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Vauxhall Conference League 25/26

First victory in the CL proper by an Azerbaijani team. Crazy game in Italy, where Juventus scored twice deep in injury time to draw 4-4 with Dortmund. Equaliser scored by former Newcastle and Bournemouth left back Lloyd Kelly. Shock in Netherlands too, where PSV lost 3-1 at home to Union Saint-Gillo...

Re: Weekend Football

Liverpool have been level in all four of their games this season at the 82 minute mark. Chiesa's late winner, Ngumoha's later one, Szobozslai's free kick, Hannibal's insane handball. A season of 'moments' already.

Re: Changes In Football thread

Obviously a stupid idea. The play-offs should be getting 'smaller' in my view, or more fluid dependent on points gap between competing sides. Fun fact, Millwall have finished 8th in four of the last eight Championship seasons (and 9th once, on goal difference), and haven't made the playoffs in that ...

Re: Weekend Football

I know internationals keep players busy, but I still find it mad that scheduling means that from this weekend clubs in Europe play seven domestic fixtures in 21 days, having played 3 in the last 30.

Re: England - the future....

Yes, and he will continue to score goals if we continue to play him. But we won’t win anything. I’m just asking the question as to whether there might be a way of shuffling the pack that would get more out of the collective resources at Tuchel’s disposal so we COULD potentially take that next step ...

Re: England - the future....

It's pointless playing the ball over the top for him or giving him anything to run onto as he is going to get caught every time, so that restricts what we can do. There's lots of pace everywhere else in the attack but they can't play the ball in as quickly as they might otherwise do because Kane pr...

Re: England - the future....

Kane's goalscoring form has also dropped off for England in the past 4 years. from 0.88 goals per game up to 2021 to 0.61 since 2022. isn't that just a particularly good 2021 skewing that? Yes. Not sure what FDTW's agenda is here, if any. But the suggestion that Kane's form has 'dropped off' is a l...

Re: World Cup 2026

I take it the waste of time that is South American World Cup qualifying has now completed giving the same old completely unsurprising names. Such a shame there were not only 4 qualifying spots as Brazil would now be out on GD! Only real story is how Chile are now so cr@p. Wonder how FIFA will deal ...

Re: World Cup 2026

In Europe, Norway thrashed Moldova 11-1. Some chap called Erling Haaland got five goals, and now has 48 goals in 45 international caps. Norway's goal difference now so good that even if they lose in Italy in November, they should have enough to top the group and qualify, for what would be Ha...

Re: World Cup 2026

Gabon held 0-0 by Ivory Coast, which should be enough for Ivory Coast to qualify - they need to beat only Kenya and Seychelles in their last two games to make sure of it. Cape Verde beat Cameroon and will likely now qualify for their first World Cup. DR Congo lost 3-2 to Senegal having been 2-0 up -...

Re: England - the future....

Well, where did that come from? Credit where it's due, one of our best performances in recent memory, and certainly our best away performance for a long time. Very, very good. Madueke always underwhelms me for Chelsea and now Arsenal - but just seems like an international player. Rogers fit in to th...

I did get that a little wrong earlier - would be their second World Cup, they were of course Zaire back in 1974, when famously a defender charged out of the wall to boot away a direct free kick.

Florian who?

No team should want to concede a free kick in range to Liverpool this season.

Re: England - the future....

Southgate gave more chances to young players than any England manager in our history. Clear pathway from the youth setup. Southgate's 'boring' teams scored 2.67 goals per game, a higher rate than at any point since Walter Winterbottom over 60 years ago. Southgate's teams conceded just 0.50 goals per...
