Re: Richardson out

This is what my brother and I were talking about at the game last Saturday. The defending side then has the advantage in numbers . Simple stuff really but beyond the thought process of most managers and coaches. Everything now seems to be "more players back = less chance of conceding", wh...

Re: Richardson out

Though that’s changing isn’t it - not filtered down through the divs yet but how many corners have Arsenal and Chelsea scored from this year? It’s all Arsenal seem to score… Obviously any average will have a couple of exceptions. Trouble is, everyone is in the penalty box nowadays, leading to more ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (h)

How did we win that? Wycombe completely dominated and we didn't do much other than score three times. OK, that's kind of "Yes Mrs Kennedy, but apart from that, how did you enjoy your day in Dallas?" type situation for them, but we got lucky. The midfield was completely ineffective, just al...

Re: Richardson out

Reading all the Thomas Frank stuff got me thinking (dangerous, I know): The standard response for fans is to blame any poor run of results on the manager. To say that someone else would get the team playing better and improve results. But - as fans are we saying that the 'average' manager would do ...

Re: The Non - League thread

NL Results Bracknell Town 4-2 Sholing Bracknell were 0-2 on 85 minutes and still 1-2 down in the 93rd. Quite a late turnaround. Strangest result of the day, albeit definitely not local, was Curzon Ashton v Telford in the National League North. Both teams were boringly mid-table, with Curson Ashton ...

Re: The Non - League thread

Results of those games played yesterday (Sat 3rd) very few games survived on grass .... – there were a few abandonments dotted about and a few very late call offs, where the officials didn’t fancy the surfaces on arrival – including a few on 3G. e.g Sandhurst & H&Y. I went to the Sandhurst ...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

I’m sure he is considering downgrading the academy as well tbh. Any sensible own would at least consider it. We’re not really using it this year player wise and it costs a fortune It’s this sort of short term thinking that destroys football clubs for years. It's overspending that destroys clubs. Th...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game - 24/25 page 225 onwards

JedMaxwell I thought the red was a bit harsh as there were players on the line so Derrick may not have been able to just roll it in, .

It's about denying a goalscoring opportunity, not denying a nigh on certain goal.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h)

The encouraging thing, other than the win, was that we actually had a few decent breaks. Normally we are so ponderous going forward. If you can run at teams at this level, you'll cause them no end of problems. We did catch them in possession a lot of times over the night, although I thought they loo...

Re: Richardson out

Not going to be sacked. Couhig stated that Richardson was his choice to manage Reading when he first started the process of buying out Dai Yongge. Richardson has been patiently waiting in the wings for this to happen post takeover. It would be interesting to know what was so appealling about him. O...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bradford City (a)

We're back to being a standard League 1 team. Which for a majority of our fanbase, is unheard of. No sign of that ending any time soon. Long haul, until we can re-develop the Reading Way. And build something proper. We should be utilising that Acedemy again. The awkward truth is that the cost of th...

Re: The worst performance since........

Oxford away in 1998, finally sealing the taxi’s fate. I think the 0-3 at home to Port Vale, just before, was worse, but I've seldom been as angry about a performance as that night in Oxford. Thanks, yes so bad it was blotted out of my mind… Remember now the after match pitch invasion, triggered by ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Rotherham United (h)

15,279 there today Not surprised by that figure, although would say that's probably inline with a typical grassroots match - so I don't think the fireworks added much to the gate. 407 away fans - fair play to them. There were far more kids there than usual, and I'm sure the fireworks were a big fac...

Reading were sold in the middle on May. As much as I hate Dai, the poor recruitment over the summer was not down to him.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

2 urgent problems that need addressing right now are the lack of a physical presence up front and the non existent pace in defence. The problem is that neither of those things are something that can be worked on in training. Richardson has basically got about a month to assess the squad, see if he ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

One of the shocking things is how little effort the players made in extra time. It reminded me of the Kiddermister game, where we just accepted defeat and went through the motions.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

the only disappointments were Doyle and Kyeweraa who I can’t see LR sticking with at all It could just be "off the top of my head" thinking, but Kyeweraa might just be the worst ever wide player I've seen in a Reading shirt. I can't think of a single thing he does adequately, let alone we...

Re: Home ticket changes

The information the club has told him is wrong based on that. You shouldn't need to download an app to have the ticket on your phone - you should be able to simply add it to your Apple/Google Wallet (depending on what phone you have). I think his phone is pretty old, so might not be something added...

Re: Home ticket changes

One thing I can't work out is why this great new system doesn't extend to loading FA Cup games to a season ticket card. A friend of mine wanted to buy a ticket for the Carlisle cup tie, but was told his only options are to download an app (which he doesn't want to do) or print at home (which he can'...
