I just got married with paisley pattern bow ties so that would tie in nicely (sorry for the pun).

Inx3 for this, the rail replacement actually doesn't hinder us too much as goes direct from Stockport to Hudds so no need to go in and out of Manchester.

Yeah the own centre has got a lot better, I was down in London for 10 years and is much improved now I've returned. If getting in early, the Bakers Vault (as mentioned) and the White Horse would be my choice, but the whole Underbank area is pretty decent now to be fair with small pubs and food place...
