Re: BFTG Wycombe

With the caveat that I wasn’t there, I wouldn’t argue with those subs and they made sense on paper Sometimes subs work and reinvigorate the side (Bolton). Sometimes the same changes have the opposite effect. But as someone said he prob had to make them as players were tiring on a warm day after a lo...

Re: Hunt out.

May just be an impression but it feels like the teams change a lot more season by season in L1 It’s why I don’t really take the ‘new team needs time to bed in’ as much of an excuse. That seems to be every team in this league to me. And whilst I like the idea of building for next year - Elliott will ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (a)

Positives: - Didn’t lose, picked up a point away - Hunt made the required changes - Midfield looked more balanced - MOM is showing a bit of promise - Performance was there, just need to keep the consistency of it up While not as big as we’d have liked, a step in the right direction. Think our two b...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (a)

Just asking. But how many goals is it now that is due to some sort of cockup/ poor judgement/ mistake from Burns? I know defenders get a lot of flack, but isn't reliability sort of important int he back line? I hope he doesn't prove to be a bit of a liability. Can't really blame him for the first a...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (a)

TBF, one of those goals was going over until it got a massive deflection so it dropped like a stone, and he's also missed an open goal. Plus, for a winger, he does almost nothing to set anyone up. Key passes are non-existant. He's definitely a sub at best. Kyerewaa is quick, for the press, and the ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (a)

I’m prob in the minority but I’d not have picked Kyeweraa. Seems harsh on Doyle to give him 65 out of position and drop him. Camara I’m ok with though as he doesn’t offer a lot but does keep shape He should pick either Ahmed or Abrefa and Dorsett or Jacob and stick with it Elliott starting is good ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (a)

Sigh. Very reactive changes. Does feel like he’s just hoping to find the right side Abrefa being dropped (unless injured) is borderline ridiculous It’s not ridiculous at all was poor against Bolton especially defending their winger had him on toast and Ahmed is very good player Ahmed is - but he wa...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Don’t disagree but there have been lots of very good CB pairs that aren’t especially quick. It’s as much about reading the game (not Mbengues strong point)

Maybe Williams can bring that.

Re: 4-4-2

I think basically teams worked out how to counter it by overloading the midfield and outnumbering the 2 cms and isolating the wingers so they weren’t in the game Something like the popular 4-2-3-1 just overruns that 4-4-2 midfield Football is often cyclical though so you never know, may come back in...

Whore Jackie Wycombe have a tie in with Marlow's Rebellion Brewery so imagine there's a few decent beer options.

Re: Wycombe away

Late on this but is there anything to do at the stadium? They seem to have put on a football bus from Maidenhead station which looks a good option to get there but arrives about 1pm. How would you kill at least an hour there?

Google maps suggests there is nothing much anywhere near it

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

But we were also pretty terrible for long periods in those games, wasn’t just a bit of bad luck. I’m less bothered by the results or even poor individual performances than the tactics, starting line up choices or subs. Or lack of any chance creation (except when we’re 1 down with 5 to go) I think t...
