Re: Matt Ritchie

He's apparently wanting to see if he gets any offers from the Championship before committing to drop down a level, which is fair enough and shows confidence in his ability. My view, if this is going to happen it will be right at the end of August. With Ahmed and Abrefa, Dorsett, Jacob, Ryan and Cla...

Re: Selles out

Selles wouldn't have been my choice, but to be fair he has done better than I expected so far considering the hand he was dealt (I wasn't expecting much!). He was appointed late, most of the players we brought in haven't been here 5 minutes and so there was no proper pre -season. We have seen one o...

Re: Selles out

Agreed, Jimbo. Need a change, or League 2 is on the horizon. Dai needs to act during the international break so we can bring someone else in and sack them during the international break after this one. I assume the above post was somewhat tongue in cheek but many on here wanted Selles sacked after ...

Re: Will Ruben Selles ever win another League game?

I think the club will build a statue of Selles as a reminder of our worst ever manager. It will be exactly 4.2 metres high and 2.2 metres wide. Bearing in mind the "Hunt out" thread I thought this one re Selles was worth bouncing up. Selles was incredibly unpopular in November 2023. The a...

Re: Hunt out.

I don’t think it’s as bad as the doom-mongers make out. A few adjustments and I think the team will click. 1. Wing needs to be played further forward. I’m not sure why he’s so deep, perhaps its due to the CBs lacking confidence and someone in midfield needing to fill in the space behind, or perhaps...

Re: Hunt out.

This speculation over Hunty is getting ridiculous. For the last 2 seasons we lost 5-2 at Bolton and so last night was a big improvement. We were on the back foot throughout but we defended resolutely. If we win against Wycombe (who have started the season as badly as us) and Port Vale, the start for...

Re: Hunt out.

The really worrying thing is after 4 games, there is zero idea what our team identity is. That and Hunt's seeming inability to adjust to the actual game, as opposed to what he expects to happen. Criminal that no subs were made before 60 odd minutes, and his justification for not using Elliot is lau...

Re: Hunt out.

I reckon we had as many in our 18 from last season as most teams in this division tbh. He chose not to include Dorsett and Rushesha who played last year as well Not discounting that Mbengue, Bindon and Knibbs were huge losses though The worrying thing is just how disjointed we look coming forward. ...

Re: Hunt out.

And another thing. At the start of 2023/24 we had pretty much the same players that ended up doing so well for us last season. We had recruited Knibbs, Smith, Wing, Savage, Elliott and Pereira during the summer of 2023 and yet Selles lost 11 of the first 16 games that season!! I hope that the player...

Re: Hunt out.

I cannot believe how many of our fans are bedwetters. Three defeats and it is the end of the world! Frankly if the new owners sack Hunt early in the season, without giving him a chance to mould a team out of the hotchpotch he has been given to get a tune out of, then we truly will deserve to get rel...

Re: Hunt out.

Also when Hunt took over his record in his first 3 games was 1-1 0-2 and 0-3. There was a clamour to get rid of him then too and he went on to win the next 3. Give the bloke a chance.

Re: Hunt out.

Ridiculous overreaction from those talking about sacking Hunty. 1/ The takeover went through later than expected which affected retaining players and signing new ones. 2/ pre-season was affected by the above and players haven not had the chance to gel yet. 3/ we have already had a number of unfortun...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

PS. I have just watched the Rob and Joe interview online. It it was a very interesting insight into the finances of the club. Clearly some financial issues came out of the closet after the takeover was completed and that has affected their spending plans. But what was encouraging is that they said w...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Great we have signed Williams as we needed another CB option. The one thing I don’t get is why we would sign Richie (assuming we are actually interested). He would be very expensive and would seem to be a luxury as we have a lot of right wing and right back options. I would much rather that we spen...

A bit surprised by this one. Seems there's no transfer fee, but Atlanta have a future sell-on fee: https://www.atlutd.com/news/atlanta-united-transfers-derrick-williams-to-reading-fc-2025 :? Hi Brogue. As one who appreciates your tips, can you confirm whether he has signed on a free or was an up fr...

Re: Michael Cheek (Bromley)

Cheek has an incredible National League record and then stepped up to L2 last season seamlessly.

£300K would seem a fair price but at age 34 I doubt we would take the risk - but it does make you wonder why no one has ever given him a go at a higher level. Clubs might have missed a gem.
