Re: World Cup 2026

I don't think they will do any good next Summer because of their defence but credit to Steve Clarke and his players for getting there. Our defence has been shocking. Can't imagine someone like Grant Hanley will be playing internationally after the World Cup (probably shouldn't've been featuring in ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Rotherham United (h)

Fancy a win. Rotherham are in fine form, but that just means they're due a hiccup. Probably tempting fate here, but I watched the Luton v Rotherham game last Saturday and both teams looked pretty poor. Sherif looked decent as a target man but also went off injured. I read the manager's comments aft...

Re: World Cup 2026

Pleased to see Scotland go through and would like (however unlikely) to see Northern Ireland go through as well. Don't care much if Wales make it and don't care at all about Ireland. A very exciting game for the Scots last night and what a 90 minutes by John McGinn who was everywhere I don't think t...

Re: World Cup 2026

They may turn out to be just as bad but hopefully BBC commentators and the (un?)necessary co-commentators will be better at the World Cup than ITV's Matterface and Dixon-they IMHO are even worse than Tyldesley. Yesterday they kept on and on about our record qualifying stats and Dixon just can't stop...

Re: Wales - the future…

A couple of silly bookings for the Welsh in Ampadu and James.

Both apparently will miss their big game on Tuesday when quite a few regulars will also be unavailable through injury With Kieffer Moore possibly being the most significant.
A tense night to come for the Welsh.

Re: World Cup 2026

How do others feel about our chances of winning next year? I am getting a bit fed up with ITV commentators in most of what they say but in particular their going on and on and on about the expected high temperatures that we will face, forgetting that all the other countries will face the same issue....

Re: Rinomhota CONFRIMED

Not as old as I thought he was by now at 28. It is always a bit worrying when we sign a player who nobody else wants and has been available since May. If he turns out to be almost as good as when here before that will do for 3rd division football and we all like a trier.. It looks as though the mana...

Re: Weekend Football

... I was wondering whether a rule change to no more than say 3 players from each side (plus the keeper) being allowed in the penalty area for a corner kick would be a good move. That would mean a much clearer view surely of what is going on and players should be penalised for any hands on another ...

Re: Weekend Football

I think if Reading were a PL side and we'd had a goal disallowed for the Robertson incident, we'd be apoplectic - including Rother. Nope, it's actually one of my pet gripes. The "direct eyeline" discussion is largely irrelevant - Having been a goalkeeper, I know that anyone in your immedi...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Even given the emotional pull he has for Wolves its an odd move for Edwards, Felt like Middlesbrough was a chance for him to reverse the downward trend his managerial career was taking. He was doing a good job and on track for getting into the playoff which would be seen as a successful season for ...

Re: Injury watch 2025/26

Just checking - do you expect Kelvin E and/or MOM to keep a fit Marriott out of the side and then for Couhig to bring in a (better) striker in the January window? Admittedly we now have a new manager but neither of these things happened earlier in the season so not sure either will happen now A fit...

Re: Weekend Football

It's not ridiculous, as he's within a few feet of the keeper in the six-yard box, but I can see why LFC fans feel hard done by. If the goal had been given, I don't feel City could complain too much. Gary Neville referred to another recent game where something similar happened and IIRC the player wa...

Re: Weekend Football

Another *******stupid VAR call but then it’s Oliver Correct decision. Being that close to him Robertson would clearly have an impact on the ‘keeper’s decision making and reflex reactions. Once again it would be fine if all refs and VAR refs saw things the same way-but they don't and the other day t...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Interesting that Edwards wants to go to Wolves. I think their squad is shocking, he'll lose most games and almost certainly get relegated, and that Middlesbrough have a better chance of being in the PL next season. But I guess the immediate lure of the PL is strong, and if he somehow keeps them up ...

Re: Weekend Football

Sunderland have given their latest promotion to the Premier League a really good go by spending £180 million or so gross on new players. Very impressive v Arsenal last night and reminded me a bit of us with our first promotion season at that level. Good luck to them and they don't need too many more...

Re: Players on international duty

2 games between now and December 9th, plenty of time to get some fitness where it should be, no idea if they've been over worked or under worked Perfect, as you say good amount of time for the team to get some fitness and resilience. Also, off the back of a good win yesterday, LEAM can spend time w...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (h)

A combination of a very good first 40 minutes and the bit of luck that some fans think we never get. The lucky bits:- For our goal the ball might have been out of play twice Their striker managing to hit the bar from about 10 yards Most refs would have been too proud to change their minds over the D...
