SwfcHamish Hi Royals,

Sorry its a little late (due to admin not activating account til now) but congratulations on your wonderful season. Back to the prem! I've studied your progress since December and you've really shot up the league. Kind of have a soft spot for your team, good ground and a decent bunch of fans most of you seem to be. Your promotion also means we (if we get promoted, which is looking like a huge certainty) won't have to play you next season so you can hand out our yearly embarrasment. 5-0, 6-0 or whatever. Anyway, enjoy and I hope I too am celebrating come the end of May. Everything is so rosey about our club right now, its just a breath of fresh air. I'm sure your club mirrors that feeling right now.

P.S Can we have Antonio please because he is an absolute revelation. One of many players that have performed superbly this season for us. Any chance of this?

Anyway Royals, good luck for the future. I'll see you in the Prem in two years time? :D

Bye for Now.

Hamish The Owl

Much appreciated, Hamish!

I'm hopeful you guys will go up this year. Antonio actually asked for the loan move as he was frustrated at not getting in the side. McDermott wanted him around the first team but allowed him to go out on loan with some reluctance.

What would you feel is a suitable transfer fee? I don't think he'll get a sniff next season, which is a shame.

Antonio is clearly Championship standard, there is not that much difference between the leagues as so many teams have proven by going down and not coming back up, or by coming up and going up again!

It's just about confidence and at Sheffield Wednesday he's been given it, I'm sure he'd get it with us with a bit more time.

Well done Hamish and thanks for the congratulations!

Maguire I'm a bit perplexed by Antonio tbh as he's looked basically dogshit whenever I've seen him play for Reading.

It can't just be the slight drop down in level of football that's made him so useful, maybe it's just confidence or having a run in the team.

I think it is the institutionally racist nature of the middle-class support which hampers the progress of blacks at Reading.

Sorry but I can't agree with this, some of the quality in League One is woeful, theres rarely more than four clubs in that division that could survive in the Championship, but the ones that come up have usually been able to get very consistent winning runs together and in this division a little bit of confidence, consistency and the ability to play as a team is what is most important - and that is why promoted teams have generally done well.

Have to agree this.. Living in the South West I had the misfortune to go to Exeter v Yeovil this season on a corporate day... The standard was tragic as was the pre-match meal!!

Thanks Hamish.

I have watched your results with interest this season, and genuinely want you to get promoted.

Madine looks a good player, and am glad that Antonio has helped you since coming in. Great results for you this weekend, lets hope Sheff U slip up again and you can capitalise.

if not, good luck in the Play-offs!

I think the powers that be should promote SWFC two divisions this season so we can continue this quite phenomenal Madejski Stadium record:-

P4 W4 D0 L0 F15 A1

I still LOL @ Gerald Sibon's assertion at the start of 02/03 that SWFC should go the season unbeaten. ReLOLegated.

Anyway, LOLz aside, cheers for the congratulations Hamish. Things look rosey for you at present and I genuinely want you to get promoted above SUFC however beware the Mandaric legacy when he leaves. Basically, you'll be up sh*t creek and yours is one club I wouldn't wish that upon.

Cheers.

Antonio struggled for us at this level coming into a team that relied heavily on super wingers. He obviously needed a lot of game time at a lower level. Having done so well with you, I'd think he'd be keen to go to you to try his hand in the Championship in a team he's familiar with and not the 4th choice backup.

I think we'd be smart to cash in as well. He may make it at Champ level, especially in a team with momentum that he's already performing well in, but he's going to be pretty useless making a two league jump into a team he's going to be emergency cover for and hasn't really looked very good before at

I'd say £500k was about right... I'd reckon another club might let him go for something between £0 and £300k, but Hammond wrings absolutely every penny out of everyone.

And Good luck getting up and consolidating next year.

Hmm, well depends doesnt it. Obviously we'd love to get him on the cheap and if we went up it'd be easier for us to do that. Althought we have cash we have invested carefully, spending around 1.5 - 2 million in the last 18 months or so. Maybe a cheeky 250k bid for starters, Mandaric always starts low which frustrates lots of our fans.

I imagine we will be looking to sell him this summer. Probably for around about 500k

Harsh, he's better than Andy Hughes!

Cheers, we have had a great season by all accounts. Madine is quality, I'm thankful you have only mentioned him. I feel we will struggle to keep hold of some of our players, Reda, Madine, Semedo and Batth being prime examples.

I spoke to Dave Jones today about Antonio, he appeared v keen to keep Antonio and it seems likely although he has an injury apparently, shame as i still think there is some talent there
