Massive three points against Wigan

by riverroyal » 09 Feb 2013 17:37

Next match in the PL, Wigan at home

at the same time our rivals have . . .

QPR v Man Utd
Arsenal Aston Villa
Newcaslte v Southampton

A Reading win could put us five clear of the drop zone :D

It's a must win, no matter how many games are left, it's a massive opportunity for us to open a gap and take some pressure off ourselves. We too have some shockers of games coming up (United away, City home, Liverpool home to name but three). Wigan is massive!

So what? It's in our hands as things stand. We have no-one to blame but ourselves, and we know what we need to do.

Its sounds cliché but the Wigan match is season defining. Lose it and we will completely collapse!

It will be far from easy. Wigan had 13 shots with 10 on target against Chelsea today, also edged the possession 53% 47%

Agreed, and they will be saying exactly the same thing to their team...this is a massive game for both clubs and the proverbial six pointer!

BBC report says the scoreline today in the Wigan match really flattered Chelsea and that Wigan actually played rather well. It will be such a tough game against the Latics and, frankly, I'd be happy (well, not happy but I could live with it) a draw. We are still, as the Stoke game showed, a poor Premiership team - not a criticism of Brian or the players who are really battling, and I'm delighted with some of our recent from - and are still very much relegation candidates.

How could you be happy with a draw to put us on 24 points with 11 games to go?..we still have some horrendous fixtures to come, IMO we just must get 3 points here, also against QPR, Villa and Saints

Man Utd have the title in the bag if City don't turn it around v Saints. That's bad news for us. They'll more likely rest players v QPR in the league than us in the cup.

Hhmm it is looking increasingly like three from four unless Norwich really run out of puff.

They've played a much better brand of football to us all season. We all knew what we were going to get from BM this season. Soak it up football and hope to sneak something, just was we did for much of last season. It's a lot harder to get away with at this level. Saints are a pleasure to watch, where as we are very hard on the eye for 70 minutes until we decide to go 4-4-2 and give it a go.

believe saints are out of it now and feel QPR are pretty much gone, if we beat wigan and go 5 clear of the drop and then rather optimistically beat villa 2 weeks later I think we may just be safe, BUT its never over til its over

You make a point out of stating the obvious, but there aren't many winnable looking games left, so Wigan really is a must win game!
