I think I saw him come out with the other subs after the game ... but wasn't sure it was him.

Think he'd definitely fit better into the NA style of play as both Pearce and Morrison didn't look too assured playing the ball around, whereas Mariappa is very good in that way. I'd say he was either injured or off to another club.

Agreed. If Mariappa been told he's going to be on bench at best, no surprise he might want away - I think it's odd that he's not featured more in pre-season and Adkins not rating him much - but can't blame him if he goes somewhere else but then doesn't that leave us with just Gorkss? So we'd need another player....

At the end of the day Pearce and Morrison are pretty much nailed on starters right now. Mapps won't be happy sitting on the bench in this league, and if we can get >2m for him then I think it would be a good deal for both parties.

Obviously something going on if he wasn't even benched. Something more than Adkins doesn't rate him, because surely he can't rate him THAT badly. A player doesn't go from our best to our worst centre back over night new manager or not.

My guess is someone is maybe interested in buying him.
