Wycombe Royal It will be interesting to see how this now pans out. When Kirchner got to this stage with Preston and due diligence started he submitted two lower offers than the one that got him to the due diligence stage. I'm assuming he cited financial reasons having seen the full finances of the club. At the end of the exclusive period Preston pulled the plug.....

It is already known that the offer is below what the administrators want and he could yet reduce that further....then we'll see how desperate the administrators are.....

Preston probably pulled the plug because of the time taken for due diligence from Kirchner himself, it ultimately depends on what he wants to look at. I can imagine Derby may come under more scrutiny to see where the debts are owed and what amount to where etc. It might not happen as quickly as people may assume now.

SSN as useless as they are, suggest it'll take minimum 2 months to study the accounts, and the stadium issue is also a stumbling block, although the most likely outcome will be that Kirchner leases it.

The exclusivity period lasts for a defined period of time. It was at the end of that time that Preston pulled the plug.

Think it's as is. They can accept relegation and take another points deduction this season, or remain deluded that they can stay up and take a big deduction in L1. Hopefully the latter.

Surely we would rather the former to confirm their relegation this season? Who cares what they do next season if they are playing in L1 and we aren't presumably.

It is too late to have points off now this year, I believe.

Any further points will only be deducted if the deal to leave admin is less than EFL minimums and only once the deal to bring the club out of admin is concluded.

This....my understanding from their forum is that it's out of their hands. They have only just announced the preferred bidder and the speed things move it's too late.
Wonder if the price might be driven down now they are pretty much relegated and a further points deduction is incoming. Submitting a business plan to clear the debts etc I can see going on for sometime.

Rusty royal Swansea and Cardiff have quite a say in the coming games. The Barnsley- Peterborough game is crucial too

A Peterborough win would be brilliant for us, followed by a draw.

Well yes, quite. Just shows how our ambition has slipped

This season. We are where we are, and we can't change that now - so we have to take the wins.

We are rebuilding as a club, staying up is vital whilst this happens and with luck in 2 or 3 seasons time our ambition will shift from staying up to trying to get up, hopefully sustainably like Luton and not like we have done to date - else we'll be back in this mess in a few years time.

Yeah exactly this

I think we will become only the 2nd club in Championship history to survive with a points deduction, the other being Birmingham, correct me if I'm wrong.

Knowing this was going to be a difficult situation this season as our deduction came earlier in the season than Birmingham's with our injuries littered all over the place, putting context into this season, survival would be a good achievement.

yes, but that achievement, if it comes to pass, will most likely be only possible because Derby had a far greater points deduction

We could easily catch Hull.

If points deductions were taken out, we'c currently be 21st. 2 points clear of Hull, who would be in the relegation zone and with the chance to draw level on points with Cardiff if we beat them at the weekend.

Barnsley and Peterborough would be all but gone, as they would be 14 and 16 points from safety respectively. They have both been so bad that only points deductions have given them even a sniff of a chance.

Well we could, all we need to do is beat them and then manage one win more than them over the other 5 games. Very possible, though agree "easily" may be stretching it.

Love how we are all treating catching Hull City as some sort of major prize? Do we get a trophy?

No one is.

If we beat them, we've got a chance of finishing above them for sure and it is always better to look up rather than down.

Considering we have been so bad for much of 2022 and were so many points behind them at some point, finishing 20th given the season we've had, including the points deduction, would be a pretty good way to end the season if you ask me.

Not sure that thinking we could over take the team above is akin to delusions of grandeur or hopeless optimism.

Not that I particularly care.

Of course not, but if we go above them then it means a strong(ish) end to the season which, if nothing else will be more entertaining than we've had to put up with most of the season. Fcuk it, I hope we get past Bristol City and Birmingham too.

Would normally talk about taking momentum into the next season as well, but not sure that really counts this year with the massive changes we are likely to see over the summer.
