Mid Sussex Royal Where's the black hole this year then?
1. £7M for Sig
2. A cup run the quarters again - including 2 live TV games and extensive highlights. Cannot have been budgeted for
3. Play-offs - increased revenue again - as above
4. League gates - must be at least the same as they would have forecast.
Its either one of 2 things - SJM is seeking repayment of loans (which next set of audited accounts would confirm) or completely incompetent management by the people running the finances of the club.
Or we are paying wages we can't really afford (as people insist here we should do) and rely on selling to pay off the shortfall.
We had a £4 million shortfall predicted for this season. OK, the Gylfi money cleared that, and a bit to spare, but we'd be on target for an income shortfall of the same amount next season too unless anyone this our wage bill will be £4 million lower next season.
The fact of the matter is that we are an average club for this division, and any finishes above mid table are a bonus.
Yes, it would be great if we had a chairman who said "here you are Brian. Here's an extra £10 million from my own pocket", but anyone expecting that is living in a dreamworld. Quite frankly, anyone who can't see we've massively overachieved since coming up in 2002 is blind, and anyone who thinks only such overachievement is acceptable, is an idiot.
