winchester_royal Interesting that Connolly's gone back to QPR rather than to Spain with the rest of the squad, perhaps suggests that a permanent deal isn't quite as inevitable as some on here would have us believe.

We've made a bid for him. Also a very reliable source that tends to get the figures correct says we've offered £900k, so it does sound like we want to keep him here.

Cypry We've lived off his set pieces, without them we'd almost certainly be in the playoffs, and as someone pointed out on another thread, how many times has he been properly skinned by a winger over the last part of this season? I can't think of many, if any....and let's face it, the Championship has it's fair share of wingers who are just as quick as almost anyone he'll face in the Prem...

I can only think of de Ridder once and Vaz Te once, struggle to think of any other occassions in the second half of the season. So once against each promotion rival isn't terrible.

Pace isn't the only issue though, most of the pacy wingers in this division are generally young and inexperienced, so Harte takes advantage of that. The wingers in the Premier League are a whole different kettle of fish and he won't have the upper hand on most of them. I think he will be ok in the Prem but I wouldn't be comfortable going into the season with him as our best option in that position

Yes, and we have an option on a further year.

Not massively unexpected news, but Nick Arnold's facebook suggests that he has definitely signed a year's contract extension. Good to hear, sounds like a good player.

KDRF suprised walcott didnt make it, used to play against/with him and he was class, had pace like his cousin as well.

Maybe he seemed good because you were slow and rubbish?

Shame about Cywka. Brian seemed to really rate him.

Always very complimentary about him but he hardly ever put him on the pitch, so you wonder.

Hopefully Cywka's gamble at giving it another go in England (rather than taking the 3yr deal in Poland) might reap rewards for him in terms of a deal at another Championship side. Sure Brian would give him a good reference.

Thing is, he was released from Derby for being a too naive - he didn't play much for us (or even make the bench), so it didn't look good for him in the Premiership - especially when he would use up one of the over 21 spots and we will have money available to bring in someone better/more experienced

Josh Webb is Neil Webb's son right? Turning Pro next season? Good for him.

I expected a lot of players to go but the number (17 so far if we include Bignall and the loans) is even bigger than I expected and I still think there will be a few more sold who are under contract. The young players have been culled heavily but I suspect this is because we don’t see many of them having PL potential.

Looks like we will be recruiting quite a few this summer.

Apparently a coincidence of name as Josh Webb (of Neil Webb) plays for Walton & Hersham FC

Tough on Cwyka as I am sure we would have kept him if we had not been promoted. However, as he is not really even proven at Championship level yet it would have been a big risk to give him a slot in the 25.

Hope he gets a Championship club for next season – he deserves a chance from the little we saw.

The fact he's gone back may also be something to do with the fact that QPR's season isn't over yet (despite them playing as if they were on the beach on Sunday)

Be interesting to see if it's dependent on QPR staying up - if they do, they might not want to sell him to a rival (especially so cheaply), but if they go down he's proven he can cut it in the Championship...
