"Massive three points" is one of the worst clichés going.

The Royal
Royals-lad14 believe saints are out of it now and feel QPR are pretty much gone, if we beat wigan and go 5 clear of the drop and then rather optimistically beat villa 2 weeks later I think we may just be safe, BUT its never over til its over

You mean if we beat Wigan and Villa lose

can't see villa getting anything at the emirates

We have so far only let ourselves down. You can't rely on anyone else.

Having had a quick nose at our remaining fixtures we can realistically get 16 points, assuming we lose to the top sides and beats the rotters at home (draw away). As you all know, this never follows suit, so we'll need to do something spectacular to stay up. Either way, it is a massive three points if we beat wigan. I'm sure McD's one step ahead.

Don't you think Wigan will be thinking the same - one of their best chances for 3 points playing one of the worst sides in the league.

Its a no brainer, of course they will, along with Villa and QPR who will follow them.

Great weekend of fixtures it will be though

Sat 23 Feb 2013 - Premier League

Arsenal v Aston Villa 15:00
Norwich v Everton 15:00
QPR v Man Utd 15:00
Reading v Wigan 15:00
West Brom v Sunderland 15:00

Sun 24 Feb 2013 - Premier League

Newcastle v Southampton 13:30

IF we beat Wigan puts pressure on Newcastle and Southampton following day and the result of that will bring one or both of them back in to play. All still in our own hands but it would be nice for Arsenal and Man Utd to do us a favour for once. Norwich GD means they are not out of it. How exciting, but those home games against Wigan, QPR, Villa, Southampton are going to be nervous affairs for us fans. I have a feeling the players will do a job though.

Next 2 home matches will define our season.

Need to win both to be in with a shout of avoiding the drop.

Nothing less.

We must be more offensive though. Not the dirge we supplied yesterday. Never deserved anything................

Maybe SKY should concentrate on the battle to stay up now the race at the top is over and ditch their sickening love affair with Man utd

In my heart of hearts I still believe we have by far the weakest squad in this league

Saints, IMO are way better than us and will need to go radically wrong for us to be near them.

We might get lucky that QPR can't pull a team together, despite having many very good players
but now I think we have to beat Wigan and Villa.

IMO lose to either and we are down, draw and we are probably down.

It looks quite likely to be between the obvious four, unless one of them steals 4 points where they shouldn't.

Sadly, I think Wigan have a far better team than us and could easily do us at home.

Villa less so but they have a few very good players that are match-winners.

In theory (based on form) we could get thumped in the cup at Old Trafford, lose at Everton.

A defeat between these two games (to Wigan), even a draw and I could see the bubble burst and we then lose to Villa.

I hope I'm 100% wrong, we knock Man U out of the cup, get a point at Goodison
and stuff Wigan and Villa 3-0, but I'm looking towards a really good Championship season
and I think that's why we have blooded Akpan and Blackman already

Simple for me. Play long ball dirge like against Stoke - we're down. Play some decent football and show something approaching movement and composure like we didn't against Sunderland - we should survive.

We start well, but don't then keep imposing ourselves on the opposition. We relax back a little, let them into the game and find ourselves pressed for space and just look for the easy low risk, low reward, high chance of turnover long pass.

Looking back at yesterday I really wish we had started 442 and gone for it. Stokes defence never looked convincing to me.
