Friday's Legacy
winchester_royal Interesting that Connolly's gone back to QPR rather than to Spain with the rest of the squad, perhaps suggests that a permanent deal isn't quite as inevitable as some on here would have us believe.

We've made a bid for him. Also a very reliable source that tends to get the figures correct says we've offered £900k, so it does sound like we want to keep him here.

The fact he's gone back may also be something to do with the fact that QPR's season isn't over yet (despite them playing as if they were on the beach on Sunday)

Don't know about QPR's wages for the back four, but if they get relegated, they may have a need for him as a cheaper option for cover. Some may want to leave, others may just not be it. And then there is Mark Hughes who may have a different opinion of him and his value...

ZacNaloen
Royal Lady Josh Webb is Neil Webb's son right? Turning Pro next season? Good for him.

Apparently a coincidence of name as Josh Webb (of Neil Webb) plays for Walton & Hersham FC
Yeah, we've had two Josh Webbs lately, both central midfielders, one Neil's son. Aston Villa have one as well, who represents England at youth level.

We've also released two centre backs called Simon Cox in recent years, and I don't think the Kelly in the u16s is related to Julian and Oliver.

Got 2 mates from Uni who are Wednesday fans. Both rate him very highly and are desperate for him to stay.

Yeh puzzling one with Antonio, he never seems to get a proper chance with us , HRK always preferred, yet when he goes on loan Saints, Colchester and now Sheff Wed they always rate him highly

Or maybe it's because he tries too hard when he does get in the team because of people who saw him play once a couple of seasons ago and have written him off.

When he played a couple of games for us earlier this season there were signs of him settling down and being able to contribute to the team. I also watched a couple of Wednesday's games on Sky and it was noticeable how excited the crowd were when he had the ball going forward.

HRK has proved himself this year as decent backup with some impressive performances.

Its nice and easy to say that Church & HRK are premiership, but sadly they struggled to impress in the championship.Yep I'll agree HRK stepped in a few times with better performances but he is still not consistent enough to warrant a permanent place and at Birmingham was pretty average on a day when he could have shone

Surely he and Church had more to play for as they'd not had much pitch time in the previous games

Hal Robson Kanu plays left wing.
Antonio plays on the right.
We've not had a left wing at the club, we've been playing McAnuff out of position on the left, meanwhile he really is a right-wing player.
As such we have had too many right wing players, and not enough left wing players.
So your suggestion that HRK was preferred over him is wrong, they are not competing for the same position.

Antonio is competing with Kebe and McAnuff for the right wing position, HRK is backup for McAnuff for the left wing position.

When there was a massive round of Joe Mills arse-kissing at the beginning of the season, which incidentally was way OTT as things panned out, I stated that Mills would be better suited to covering on the left wing rather than defence. A genuine left footer with a reasonable turn of speed and not bad delivery. His woeful reading of the game, hospital balls in to midfield and his general lack of short ball passing ability wouldn't show up quite as much as they did when he came in for Harte.

Though I guess with a little more dosh in the bank, we don't need to scrimp on players anymore...

And to think that some people were also suggesting Harte as our CB solution too at the beginning of the season (ahem, me included)

I've always rated HRK a lot, I think he'd be a regular starter in any other Championship team. It's just a shame our wingers are so bloody good. I'm going to stick my neck out and say he'll flourish in the Premier League, a la Stephen Hunt.

Kanu's problem is that he's not particularly bright. As good physically and technically as anyone in our squad, but not smart enough to go through the gaps. He does well as a sub because he's fresher than the defenders so he can just run past them, but when he starts he regularly fails to make an impression.

Perhaps his awareness will improve with age, but until then I don't think he'll be able to make the most of his potential.

And as for Church being Premiership quality....

Probably only Jason Roberts of our current bunch is premier league quality. All the others need to prove themselves
