I just can't fathom out why Keane keeps playing him.

Injuries.

Thats the only reason he got a shirt today and to give him a chance to shine. I think he may of blown it, need to see MOTD.

I think Keane will give him a go them ship him out like Coppell.

I look forward to Sunderland's visit.

I normally grant even the most inadequate ex-Reading player a polite clap but I tend to think that the misguided Halford deserves all the ribbing he will inevitably get.

Nezhen It seems the whole Halford to Sunderland deal is raising it's ugly head again as he try's to blame his poor performances on his time at Reading and suggest that Oster inferred that Sunderland were a bigger and more ambitious club than Reading.

So it seems either that Halford is either scapegoating Reading for his poor performances at Sunderland or Oster has delusions of grandeur over his time at Sunderland when he was part of a poor and ineffective team.

Time to grow up me thinks !

What's wrong with any of that?

Sunderland ARE bigger aren't they?

Oster would naturally want to offload competition.

Halford suffered a confidence crisis, which happened to be whilst he was at Reading. He's not blaming Reading.

sending off is a stupid one

first challenge is a massive lunge and the second one a blatant tug on healy's shirt and a deserved red

should have seen keanos face, he was furious. second time he's been sent off this season. HIs sunderland career may be a short lived one too

Group Info Name: Is Greg Halford worth £2.5m of anybodys money?
Type: Sports & Recreation - General Sports
Description: Reading must have been clapping their hands with sheer joy when Sunderland offered £2.5million. And... How naive must SAFC have been to agree personal terms with him? I hope we pay him by successful tackle and completed pass....

Hindsight appears to be proving SC right in getting rid of this clown when the opportunity arose. :D

Yes he did, so he deserves credit for not making a loss on him when he realised he wasn't up to scratch, rather than keeping him and hoping he would come good.

The decision which concedes that your earlier decision was wrong is one of the hardest to make in any sphere of activity. Credit to SC for stepping up to it, particularly when he made a profit from it. In the event he also appears to have out-foxed Keane, no dummy himself.

That is why Coppell is one of the best managers around.

He doesn't mess about.

He could see Halford was useless in just 12 weeks and decided to get rid. Coppell is an absolute genius.

Previous managers like Tommy Burns, even dear old Quinny & Gooding would have been too proud to admit such a mistake! Look how long they perservered with a clearly useless Meaker.

Coppell brings in Owusu, realises he's sh*te and gets rid. Has already done the same with Morgan, Brooker, Halford, etc....

If Coppell was like any of our previous managers and couldn't own up to his mistakes then our current team would be this:

GK: Hahnemann
RB: Murty
LB: Shorey
CB: Sonko
CB: Ingimarsson
LM: Brooker
RM: Little
CM: Sidwell
CM: Harper
CF: Owusu
CF: Morgan

Actually thats not a bad team. But it would be playing in the Championship.

Where are:-
Halls
Brown
Maite
Bennett
Stack

No manager gets it right every time.
I thought it was funny that an earlier poster spoke of Keane's anger about Halford getting sent off again-wasn't Keane in for an early bath more than nearly all of his fellow professionals?

Have to defend Owusu

a. he wasn't sh*t
b. Coppell brought him in to do a very specific job, which he did. Coppell pointed this out at the time
