The errors by Feds are ugly. But play him against the sland - and posh to take the spotlight off - then decide.

TheSiege Reading played well tonight and some of the new boys excelled. Until, of course, Chelsea started to come back. RFC had no-one to come off the bench and change the game. All of our best players were already involved. There may be quibbles about offside or whatever but, top sides deal with that! Our problem was no Rhodes, no Zaha, no Hoilett to bring on. If we want to kick butt - we need serious boots!!!!

Anyway, could someone please tell me what Brian said to the media after the game?

I'd love it, really love it, if he came out and really slagged off that linesman.

Once again the FA prove themselves to be useless farts! Not considered to be a first team game? Were they charging reserve game prices to get into it?

Just look at the lines on the pitch. Either the six yard box or the lines mown into the grass.
Look at the distance of the ball from either of those lines, then look at the distance of Torres from those lines.......

Not level. In front of the ball. Offside.

For the linesman to have seen that as onside he is either ten yards behind play or ten yards in front of it.

Pool and Darts Handbags_harris:

no explanation required.

A player is in an offside position if he is ahead of both the ball and the second last defender.

Therefore, if either one those condition is not met - not offside.

No, you're right. Erroneous thinking - he was behind the ball. I initially posted that he was onside before the second thought, hence the edit. Having a bit of a mare tonight!

Also, I'm sorry because I know he tries hard, but there is no other team in the premiership who will have to put on a player like Noel Hunt in the hope that he can change a game.

It was a strong comment from McDermott. Not in Ferguson's league of berating officials, but definitely a slagging in Brian's world!

He said he was disappointed with the linesman, who had a poor evening.

because he was behind the ball and therefore onside.

Torres, defo offside though. God I hate cheatski.

I don't think that matters. I think there still has to be two defenders. This needs more attention.

You are massively wrong.

They have an article about the game posted at the Guardian. And even the Chelsea fans are quipping their best two players were Hazard and the linesman.
