Why, just because you don't agree with them? I don't necessarily agree with all he has to say, but needless to say Ideal's posts > yours. Always.

Full offense to Mcarthy, but that makes him sound like a right cock.

You see this is the problem with HobNob know days. People are so quick to jump down peoples throat that opinion becomes so polarised. People are being are so defensive of their views. We now have a group of people who always say positive things and those who always say negative things, even people trying to have proper debates get shot down my either side depending on what has been said. Both groups have such superiority complexes it's a joke. Any discussion just turns into people arguing the toss calling people clueless ending any chance of genuine debate.

Some people are on a wind up, but some people are so quick to have a go at anyone who says anything negative, even when they are right in some cases. I know forums are supposed to divide opinions, but it gets so silly.

Royalee in less than 4 months has managed to some up both sides of the divide perfectly.

Yeah couldn't see much wrong with anything Harper said. It's not like it wasn't common knowledge he'd had a medical but the move had stalled.

Neither could I - in fact, I thought how diplomatic he was being - think Wolves have a chap called Segundo Castillo lined up who would play in Harper's position anyway.

Agreed - and surely if he had the medical it was down to what the experts said, not McCarthy's opinions. Unless he's suddenly a medical expert too.

If Harper stays my thread will have been a complete waste of time.

If he stays it could be a very frustrating season for him.

Thing is though, nothing at all was said about the reasons why the move didn't go through at the time, so it may just be that, for some reason, Wolves had asked for everything to be kept private (taking a leaf out of our book perhaps).

If, knowing that, Harper has then come out and gone public about it, he's only got himself to blame if McCarthy then says, okay then, if that's the respect you show for my expressed wishes, you're not the player for me.

McCarthy has hardly made a big deal about it either - just made it clear he wasn't impressed. If the above assessment is a fair reflection then his reaction seems fair enough to me.

Maybe Harper was just putting himself in the shop window, knowing he's a little bit superfluous at the moment. Quite possibly with Reading's blessing if we think we can get a couple of million for him now as opposed to nothing next year...

McCarthy is upset that Harper expressed his feelings through the papers, then does exactly the same thing himself.

SymonsO Harper won't go to wolves, he has talked himself out of the move according to an interview with McCarthy.

Said he didnt appreciate harper going public and if he wants to prove him wrong then fine but it doesnt look like it will go any further.

Quite true, from the Wolverhampton Express and Star...

Harper could have put pay to move
Reading midfielder James Harper could have talked himself out of a last-minute move to Wolves next week.

The 29-year-old target was poised to join his former team-mate Kevin Doyle at Molineux, until Wolves boss Mick McCarthy raised concerns about a groin injury.

But the Premier League club are still keeping a watching brief on Harper with a view to making a final decision before Tuesday’s transfer deadline – but the player’s public swipe at McCarthy’s decision has all but crushed his chances of the deal being resurrected.

The Wolves boss said: “It’s right what James Harper has said. I did think there would be an issue over his fitness, I did go and watch him play after that – and he played very well.

“But if I am going to make a mistake, I’d rather make it at this stage than when we have taken him on contract and he is not available to us. Such is life in the big city.

“If the lad wants to prove me wrong, good luck to him. I’ve no problem with that. Will I re-visit it? Put it like this – there’s a darn sight less chance now that he has gone public over what I consider to be private and confidential discussions.

“You should do your talking on the pitch and not through the newspapers.”

In yesterday’s Express & Star, Harper questioned McCarthy’s decision to pull the plug on the proposed £2million deal.

He said: “I respect his decision, but I don’t agree with it. I was just recovering from a groin injury and when Mick looked at the scans he told me I wouldn’t be ready. I think he is wrong.

“Since then he has been to the Madejski Stadium to watch me play and I hope my performance demonstrated that I can do a job.”
