Lower West
Hopeful It may be by memory failing, but I am sure Kelly had better games when pushed into a CAM role, so for me, if Gomes likes 4-2-3-1, I would see the options as:

Clement identified that Kelly needs to sit deeper with play in front of him. Unfortunately doesn't possess a burst of pace to get past players, nor is an incisive passer of the ball. Takes too many touches. Shame that George Evans left in the summer not doubt as Meyler was brought in. Would be the perfect player to play the deeper role in a passing style. Constantly changing managers has done us no favours.

Thanks for reminding me swapped Evans for Meyler... like swapping Seol for Rosenior to replace Murty. Godawful business.

Evans was one of the most bang average midfielders we've ever had, he never had influence on any game, it was just safe passes to the side and back. One of those players where people rated him higher when he wasn't playing

Agreed. Evans played in the Cup for Derby at the weekend and their fans were complaining about how poor he was. This comes as no surprise.

He'd have been an improvement on some of the midfields we've put out. Not great, but a decent workhorse. Better than Edwards or Meyler and rarely played as badly as Swift has on occasion, though obviously not in the same league as Swift on the rare occasions he does show up and deliver. More solid than Kelly.

Obviously might have blocked Rino though.
