Greatwesternline nailseabiscuitman windermereROYAL Some things annoy me, but none more than people that have a thing about a player that you`ll hate him no matter how well he plays.
on the bus back into town I`m hearing that Paddy was shit, from where I was sitting he was was one of our better players.
Regarding the game, a big improvement on Tuesday , could have been out of sight, but as usual we couldn`t see the game out, been there done that,
Glad to see this opinion, I think these sorts of remarks are what Richardson alluded to in the Q&A session about social media. Pretty sure the younger players read it most and it has an effect on them. There are people on her and especially on Twitter who just won't let is go. By all means if someone has a bad game say it in context, not some of the vitriol I've seen. Often it's lead by people who claim to be long time supporters. People perform better with encouragement, not abuse.
I appreciate this is a bit like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube, but the number 1 thing the players should be doing to help each other is tell them not to have comments enabled on their own social media, and simply not to look at any social media at all, for their own mental health and in all likelihood performance on the pitch.
At least players have the ability to turn off/ignore social media, unfortunately they don't have that option with the abuse hurled at them by their own (supposed) fans every game.
From a spectators point of view, some of the negative comments you overhear while watching the match are really horrible/over-the-top/wrong. (It has become so bad that we purposely mov to a different part of 1871 if we see certain "characters" when we're looking for a seat)
If the younger players hear the stuff shouted at them throughout the length of the match it is bound to affect them and explains why some react the way they do when scoring or at the final whistle
