Hound Unfortunately didn’t get to watch but sounds pretty encouraging. Nice to be finally matching and beating good sides on possession stats, shots on target etc

we’ve played pretty well other than the Mansfield horror show against decent sides recently, since hopefully the nadir which was Wycombe which was embarrassing

Agree to a point except Plymouth didn't particularly look like a good side, which surprised me seeing they were on a bit of a run.

I wasn’t overly impressed with Plymouth apparently they score from a lot of set plays.

We seemed to be playing with two defined wingers and looked much better for it.

Lane was ok just not a great deal of end product. Williams was excellent first half.

Dorsett falling asleep twice in the lead up to the goals but we still had to defend- which we did poorly.

I like Plymouth in a strange way. Their fans all joining in the applause on the 13th minute showed a degree of class lacking in the vast majority of away support. (Port Vale being an obvious exception)

South Coast Royal Enjoyable game to watch and a fair result.
Two teams who are a long way off looking capable of playing at a higher level matched each other.

Today's results elsewhere were generally in our favour, especially Wycombe losing, and some interesting games to come against the likes of Stevenage and Huddersfield who are competing with us for that 6th spot plus of course Cardiff and Lincoln who are vying for the top.

The surprise change today was Ward being left out especially as many fans have been impressed with his steady start for us .

Yeh me too
Any ideas what that was about?

Once were Biscuitmen
Clyde1998
Royals and Racers Biggest crowd of the season today - 16,277

2,897 away fans, meaning 13,380 home fans today. That's the second highest of the season, behind 14,872 against Rotherham (15,279 total for that game).

It was one of the local school discounts games which always helps a bit

Rotherham or this one? Certainly Rotherham was, and it appears to have been yesterday (I didn't see any marketing about it though).

Did Richardson just favour Dorsett for some sort of tactical reason?

He was back in yesterday after missing the past few games and wasn't in the squad at all against Mansfield. Has he had some sort of knock we haven't been told about?

As others have said, it could just be a fitness thing. Yesterday was the first game he's missed since joining us. Wouldn't be surprised if he started at Burton.

Someone said on another thread that Ward was rested for some fitness/injury niggles.

I think Dorsett was just the only real alternative.

Ward's omission was pretty obvious to me. We're playing Saturday-Tuesday consistently at the moment so some players will need minutes managed, and you have to trust the management team to make that call on players. He's obviously still ahead of Dorsett long term.

That’s not injured.

That’s not injured.

That's a rather simplistic, black and white view. Fitness and injuries are far more complex than injured-not picked and picked-not injured. Players play through injury all the time.

Resting someone with a minor issue to prevent a worse one later is very sensible.

Nonsense Snowflake.

"In nineteen dickety-two Terry "Whitley Bay" Ferris played five games without a left foot. He tied an onion to his shorts. Not a red onion. The Kaiser had stolen them. One of them big white onions. Smoked twenty a day, fittest man in all of Berkshire. He won the argument, but I walked away with the turnips."

windermereROYAL Some things annoy me, but none more than people that have a thing about a player that you`ll hate him no matter how well he plays.
on the bus back into town I`m hearing that Paddy was shit, from where I was sitting he was was one of our better players.

Regarding the game, a big improvement on Tuesday , could have been out of sight, but as usual we couldn`t see the game out, been there done that,

Glad to see this opinion, I think these sorts of remarks are what Richardson alluded to in the Q&A session about social media. Pretty sure the younger players read it most and it has an effect on them. There are people on her and especially on Twitter who just won't let is go. By all means if someone has a bad game say it in context, not some of the vitriol I've seen. Often it's lead by people who claim to be long time supporters. People perform better with encouragement, not abuse.

I appreciate this is a bit like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube, but the number 1 thing the players should be doing to help each other is tell them not to have comments enabled on their own social media, and simply not to look at any social media at all, for their own mental health and in all likelihood performance on the pitch.

At least players have the ability to turn off/ignore social media, unfortunately they don't have that option with the abuse hurled at them by their own (supposed) fans every game.

From a spectators point of view, some of the negative comments you overhear while watching the match are really horrible/over-the-top/wrong. (It has become so bad that we purposely mov to a different part of 1871 if we see certain "characters" when we're looking for a seat)

If the younger players hear the stuff shouted at them throughout the length of the match it is bound to affect them and explains why some react the way they do when scoring or at the final whistle
