Late congratulations from an Owls fan

Hi Royals,

Sorry its a little late (due to admin not activating account til now) but congratulations on your wonderful season. Back to the prem! I've studied your progress since December and you've really shot up the league. Kind of have a soft spot for your team, good ground and a decent bunch of fans most of you seem to be. Your promotion also means we (if we get promoted, which is looking like a huge certainty) won't have to play you next season so you can hand out our yearly embarrasment. 5-0, 6-0 or whatever. Anyway, enjoy and I hope I too am celebrating come the end of May. Everything is so rosey about our club right now, its just a breath of fresh air. I'm sure your club mirrors that feeling right now.

P.S Can we have Antonio please because he is an absolute revelation. One of many players that have performed superbly this season for us. Any chance of this?

Anyway Royals, good luck for the future. I'll see you in the Prem in two years time? :D

Bye for Now.

I reckon you will get him tbh

He has potential but now we're premiership, and without sounding arrogant, he wouldn't cut it especially as he struggled in the Championship for us

Antonio is at his level in league 1 or maybe the Championship. Seems like a world beater for anyone but us!!!!

Thanks, we're looking forward to it immensely

You may just get Antonio if he doesn't get some chances here soon, nothing against the guy but he wasn't pulling up trees at championship level.

Fair enough I know what its like when plyers don't perform for the parent club yet are fantastic anywherelse. But he really is amongst some of the best wingers we've had here this decade. The likes of Chris Brunt, Ben Marshall, arguably Jermaine Johnson and Franck Songo'o. Antonio in his few months here has scored a handful and generally put the fear of god into the opposition.

I'm a bit perplexed by Antonio tbh as he's looked basically dogshit whenever I've seen him play for Reading.

It can't just be the slight drop down in level of football that's made him so useful, maybe it's just confidence or having a run in the team.

No idea what RFC's plans for him are - guess there's potential for a transfer there.

Exactly - how can a man not keep the ball within a yard or two of his feet in the Championship yet can do a league lower.....

Shocking lapse of board protocol towards a new poster.

I imagine we will be looking to sell him this summer. Probably for around about 500k

Its a joy to have the fresh insight of new posters

Antonio has some really likeable qualities about how he plays and he can bring a lot to the team when its needed (Norwich and Leeds at home last season spring to mind), but for whatever reason he's been behind Robson-Kanu in the pecking order and never looked likely to break into the first team despite impressive loans in league one.

I'm pleased he's proven he can make it as a pro though, if you can take a kid out of non-league football, give him an opportunity and then sell him for a profit then its a job well done so I would be happy for him to make the move permanent rather than waste his career as back up to mr boubou kebe

Nice to see everyone saying Antonio can't cut it at Championship level when he's played no more than a handful of games and when he did get a small chance earlier this season he did look like someone who could be useful at that level.

Personally I would expect him to remain at Reading next season unless there was a very very good offer for him (he's recently signed an extension to his contact I believe). Therefore, next season, I would think he'll get another loan period to a club in the championship so SWFC's best bet maybe a season long loan.

Oh, and good luck SWFC in your assault on promotion.

I know a lot of Saints fans who said the same about Antonio, it seems bizarre that he becomes a superstar a league down, but can't perform for us at all. The last time I saw him play for the hoops his lack of coordination reminded me of when I saw Frank Bruno in Panto, he was trapping the ball further than a mere mortal can kick it and had the look of a man who wanted to be helicoptered from the stadium for his own dignity. I am sure he must be better than Baz "Confusing the opposition with his ineptitude" Savage, but on that day the poor sod looked on a par with the great man.

I genuinely wish him luck and it seems at Sheffield Wednesday he may have found the right club, give us a few hundred grand and I am sure we will bite your hand off. Good luck for the next couple of games and good luck to Antonio as well, sometimes things just don't work out.

Quite right. The last couple of games he played for us, he was very sharp, and we started to see why Mc D believes in him. And it meant he was already coming into form when he went to Sheffield.

We may keep him, because we always need at least two wingers in reserve to fulfil our system. Letting him out on loan doesn't change that, because we could still recall him. Personally, I'd let Wednesday have him on a season's loan, if they go up, if they want--to see if he goes on improving at Championship level. If he does, that does us a favour in the long run.

:?

Everytime the ball was passed in to him, it would bounce off his shins and about 5 yards away - by the time he got it back he was tackled.
