The Final Word

by Rawlie19 » 05 Feb 2007 07:42

Normally this programme annoys me no end as it's only a half hour slot and they spend half the time talking about ManUre or ¢he£$ea. Last night started off no different with the first FIFTEEN minutes just salivating over ManUre and Rooney, then when they'd finished doing this they gave an ad for downloading the crap programme from Sky Anytime, and then making jokes about how they feel old and can't do that sort of thing  I was literally screaming at the TV to get on with the programme. There are 20 teams in the Premiership, and surely all deserve some sort of coverage?

Anyway, when they'd finished laughing about Andy Gray asking Sophie Gray to get online and download it for him, they turned to Reading, and more to the point, Lita. They only spent about 4 minutes talking about it, but they were very impressed with him and were comparing him to Ian Wright (that'll please Spacey I'm sure). Anyone else see this and care to comment?

Oh, and I guess if you missed it and want to watch it you can download it from Sky Anytime... Sorry, I have no idea what the link is for this as I was too busy shouting at the TV to take any notice.

Yeah I did watch it and everyone has been writing us off all season. I think now everyone is beginning to take notice and appreciate what we are about this season including Andy Gray. He said we play some good football and play good counter attacking football which is how both our goals came on saturday. Lita's finishes were first class and he deserves praise, didnt take one touch before unleashing two great shots.

I think thats the first time this season where we have been mentioned on final word, where we havent been playing on sky the same afternoon.

My advice is to listen to Talksport Sunday evening, they were full of praise for Coppell, Reading and Leroy Lita. I find they offer a far more balanced opinion of the weekends football, unlike Andy Gray who just arse kisses the big 4.

It's because Ian Wright is Leroy's hero and role-model.

If you think back 18 months, that's one of the main reasons he agreed to join us - becuase of the SC connection.

You have to say that his strikes were fabulous (although I thought Isaksson could have done better than just standing there for the second), but Sidwell and Harpers passes were just perfect allowing Lita to just use his pace and strike first time.

I'm sure mopst non Reading fans would be more interested in Rooney than in Leroy Lta.

The world doesn't revolve around RFC for everyone you know.

That's not what I meant. I would be just as appalled if they spent 15 minutes of a half hour show talking about us as I just don't think it's fair. They always moan at the end of the show that they've run out of time, but if they stopped doing all the crappy jokes and talking nonsense then they might be able to cover more.

But isn't the show generally just an in depth analysis by Andy Gray of the live game followed by a brief round-up? There's always 15mins on the main game - least there has been the times I've bothered to watch it.

It's billed as Andy Grays final word on the Premiership weekend, not just 1 game. That annalysis comes directly after the game. Never mind anyway.

Well if you will be a twat. My original point was that the show doesn't do what it should. You argued and then seemed to agree.

Any ways! just for the record anyone confined to the walls of Berkshire Reading. Might be interested to know the world is most defiantly talking about Reading football club as a very strong team. And many love to see it happen to. its a positive reaction on success of our club.

I was making the point as to what it actually does and has done all season. Technically it is his "final word" on the weekend just that they always spend 15 mins on the main game and then have a very brief comment on any other talking points, not every game. They have Goals on Sunday for that.

As a result, we will get a mention some weeks and not others.

I can confirm that - I talk to a lot of football supporters at lots of clubs, and everyone outside the monied interests of the big 4 (which includes Sky & journos) can see exactly what Reading are doing and are highly complimentary.
