Ian Royal not asking for an exact figure on sample size, but a ball park would be nice, so we know what credibility to assign to it. If you've got less than 300 it's just not really worth a lot. Over 3000 and it's pretty meaningful.

100? 500? 1000? 5000? 10000?

I'm no statistician but 300 would be enough I reckon - we're not talking about drugs to cure cancer here, as a starting point for the consensus on a new kit or the catering I think it's a good indication.

Agree. 500 would be very respectable in this context. You sometimes TV ads for shampoos and face-shit quote samples of less than 100 - '65 of the 93 women we asked said they would recommend X' - hardly the most convincing body of evidence.

Agree 300+ would be a good result for STAR. Just going on 1% as a good sample size. The more beyond that the more weight you can give to the results.

Shampoo and beauty products use pathetic sample sizes, because they're not looking for a meaningful answer, just a nice statistic they can flash up.

Ian Royal Well if it's a tiny bag with your phone and fags who gives a toss if it's a man or a woman?

Get a sense of perspective, it's a quick glance in and feel of a bag on your way in that takes all of 5 seconds. Don't like it, don't go.

It's the bag she puts over her head m8.

I don't have the raw data but looking at the bar charts it would seem to be about 500 (about 60% members and 40% non-members).

I would hope that we are able to encourage more to respond next time but that is not a bad sample size.

500? That's an excellent sample size for you to have managed IMO. Some genuinely meaningful data there. Think I'll bother to join up again next home game I make.

Sorry to bombard with questions, but what's STAR's membership numbers like?

Hilarious Kes as ever.

My point is, I've been to hundreds of away games over the years and I'm not always singled out to have my bag searched - in fact, at some places they don't check my bag - and at those that do, Schards and everyone else gets a quick frisk to ensure they're not carrying any weapons/booze or whatever. THAT is my point. People who they would be better advised to check just sail through and all because they don't have a bag but wear a massive coat with numerous pockets in which they can hide stuff. I'm not going to stop going because of it - it just pisses me off and I'm talking about it on a Reading Fans' message board - surprisingly!!

Leightest on baggeight: I marched through the turnstiles unopposed yesterday, man bag draped over my shoulder like the metrosexual male I am, having hot-footed down to the Madj streight from work. Man bag was unsearched. I obviously don't look a troublesome sort like RL does
