frimmers3 the lilywhites still in third place...and have not yet been beaten by any side below them in the current league table(this season)..given that a "return" fixture has still to played with both manchester clubs, does this represent championship potential if form is preserved?

Spurs have had a fairly easy run of fixtures of late.

and?

You support Spurs today cos they won yesterday and Aldershot lost. When Aldershot win and spurs lose - you'll be going on about 'The Shot's. Just like cmonureds, I mean cmonurz you are.

I notice Motty was prattling nonsense about "last man" again for the Bolton red card. For me it was a clear goal scoring opportunity, because even if Zac Knight got across to make a challenge and prevent a one on one, that left two players free breaking into the box to be crossed to for one on ones of their own.

Then you have no idea what the rule means, clearly. It's not about deciding if the subsequent passage of play would lead to the team creating a goalscoring opportunity but whether a clear opportunity existed at the time of the foul.

All it says, is about the foul denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. Nothing in that says it has to be the player who's fouled who'd have done the scoring. A three on one break through on goal is very clearly a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Take Hunt off and Wolves create 2 goals from crosses. It's not rocket science Mick, the bloke is an absolutely atrocious footballer, one of the worst wingers I have ever had the misfortune of paying money to see. Has the skill level of Sonko.

Seems Wolves fans disagree.

He is 100% effort and has plenty of ability too, knows all the tricks in the book and never gives up, great player

His first touch is well...but his delivery is great. He has a good instict and relationship with Doyle and they play well together.

Always wanted him and Doyle to have off days against us at Reading because they were there two best players. Reading's first PL season I remember watching Hunt and thinking wow what a player!

My favourite Wolves player by 100000000 miles. This is what it's all about. It's like he's been a Wolves supporter his whole life. Makes all the difference. Absolutely love him.

And perhaps most pertinently...

He's the typical love him in your side, hate him playing against you player. Pesky little terror snapping away all the game. Proper little Irish Terrier

Pertinent because it's what most of us thought at some point during his time at Reading. Our habit of denigrating anyone who has the temerity to leave the club is not to our credit.

Regarding Hunt, those comments seem to sound like Reading fans before his last season here.

Personally, I never thought he was amazing, work rate only second to Doyle but never too impressed. Let us remind ourselves in the first season in PL if Convey had never got injured Hunt wouldn't have started many games I don't think. Also, I don't think he would be half as well known to people if the Cech incident had happened.

His last season here was atrocious, crosses never beat the first man, made me pine for Andy Hughes, at least his crosses beat the first man ...... even if they did usually end up in the crowd :P

I hated watching him when he was at Reading. Atrocious player. Watched the game today time and space hits the first man over and over again, along with missing an absolute sitter in the first half. Was a very good stop from Westwood but a technically good player wouldn't have hit it straight at him. Soon as Wolves hauled him off, ball down the left (after the penalty) an excellent ball in and goal, thanks very much.

Quality >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Running around a lot trying to win the ball back following your own incompetence when in possession.

This season I would probably agree with having him back just because of the rather poor form of our wingers however

Kebe last season >>>>>>> McAnuff last season >>>> Hunt, all the time >> wingers this year.

Indeed.

How easily people forget. He was close to being our best player in the PL. Never stopped running, huge passion and his willingness to battle galvanised the team on many occasions. And he was not short on quality either.

Our (let's be honest) Championship wingers have rarely got close to Hunt's week-in, week-out contribution in the Premier League.

Badger Finger Frimble... Honestly, I think you're battling for 2nd...

Will be good for the game though. Sick of seeing the same top 4 for 15 years...

It won't be the same top 4 will it if City carry on as they are...

Think Hunt is despised by Reading fans because of his appalling change in attitude the moment he thought he could do better. Of course you're allowed ambition, but I have much more respect for players who earn their big moves, like Sidwell and Doyle.

With Shorey in 07/08, and Hunt in the latter halves of both 07/08 and 08/09, we saw attitudes change so dramatically that they went from being 2 of our best performers to being about as much use as a traffic cone.

Hunt didn't stop running that these times, so it was harder for some to see his change. It was apparent to me though. Stropping and sulking when things didn't go right. Aimlessly kicking it about instead of taking the care and concentration that used to contribute to his quality. Best example was corners and set pieces in 08/09/. Unstoppable, brilliant deliveries until January. Complete waste afterwards.

Yes, an in-form Hunt is a Premier League player at a push. Far better than what we have at the moment. However, I'm surprised Reading fans stick up for him when some of us hold him in disdain. The way he allowed his game to drop 2 years in a row when things didn't go his way was unforgivable to me. Of course good players move on, but it's so much better for the fans when they earn it the right way.

I won't forget his comments before the Brum game saying words to the effect of "I'm moving to the Premiership anyway." He didn't deserve to. He was being kept out of the team by Kebe (when he was crap), sometimes Little and even Church in his last games for the club. Says it all. If Wolves go down, you'll see Doyle give his all to try take them back up and Hunt throw a strop and offer no threat to the Championship. My prediction anyhow.

For about a season and a half with us he was transformed into something quite special - some of the things he did were quite amazing for a player who seemed to have fairly limited abilities.

But after the talk of going to Sunderland and the new, improved, contract in Jan 08 he seemed to lose a lot of it again, and revert to being a fairly average player who ran around a lot and showed occasional touches of what he had been capable of.

You (and others) might be right but personally I don't buy it.

If the attitude had sunk as low as you suggest surely it wouldn't be care at taking corners that would suffer first, it would be the running around bit.

Not denying his contributions had dropped but the guy had played 100% full-on week in week out for a couple of years (and had broken into the Ireland team) and hadn't had a break in that time. I always felt the drop in performance levels was probably more to do with being jaded / knackered than a lack of professionalism.

Only my opinion of course.

Hmmmm, if there was some loss of motivation subconsciously, then the conscious reaction might be lots of running to no effect.

What's the opinion on that Jay Spearing sending off? Obviously he took the ball but was then reckless in the follow through and caught the guy with his studs. It's a yellow card for me.

File it next to Jack Rodwell's red card. That wasn't a sending off, and nor was this one.
