Sounds like he's being rinsed. Better we see this in a friendly and pass on him than see it when the real season starts.

Johnny Fordham
Sonko is having a bad start to this game. At fault for the goal and is being skinned every time by Kuffour.

Doesn't look like Sonko is having a great start think he has lost his pace a bit!

Sounds more like kick-ass than superman at the moment but that doesn't really fit the song as well.

our options are very few. the club know him, he's shown the right attitude, he admits himself he's unfit and needs time. he will be offered a one year contract minimum.

And that would be based entirely on sentimenality if it happens, because he looked rusty at Northampton and is evidently having an awful time in Bristol tonight. Taking out his history with the club, viewing him as the prospect he is now and his recent injury problems and poor performances in recent years.....the answer would surely be 'no thanks'.

oh i agree, but as i said, our options are few. he's free, we know all we need to know about him. i can't see us not signing him, but he will be 4th choice.

as far as im concerned if brian signs him, it means hes fine. if he doesnt then he isnt.
and imo you couldnt do much better as a 3rd 4th choice CB at this level if fit. regardless of the odd ricket.

Is this is one of those blind faith moments brendy?

I hope that if we sign him on he's capable of doing a good job for us. In the back of my cynical mind I'll be expecting him to be a shaddow of his former self and a horror show waiting to happen.

He might just be the best we can get as an experienced defender though.

As you say though, as 3rd or 4th choice he might just be good enough.

I'm not sure experience is enough here - most of his experienced was gained pre-injury when he had pace, so effectively he's got a just a couple of years of experience of being the player he is now.

It's experience of what's requried and how to deal with situations in a game and over a season that really counts.

I think we share the same reservations on his ability to defend though Dirk. Some players adapt well as their capabilities change over time. Some don't. I'm not sure Sonko has adapted at all to losing that pace and acceleration that would make up for any other short comings in his game. Losing the edge from his main strengths so quickly because of injury (as opposed to someone slowly losing them because of age) must make it more difficult to adapt though.

From the bits I've seen of him since his injury he hasn't really learnt how to defend without the insurance of his physical strengths to bail him and his teammates out.
