Four Of Clubs
Royals and Racers North Leigh won 5-3 on Pens- i have been checking them out as i’m going to the ground for the 1st time tomorrow to watch the game against Merthyr.

....yeah missed that on the Edit somehow- was pleased they got through.

Bit far flung for the featured clubs but I do like a bit of Nor Lye.

For yonks they managed to be top divisional scorers, or close to it but we're forever missing promotion cos they leaked goals almost as prodigiously...... natch the first time I actually got there I'm certain was a 0-0 in thick mud.

Sure they beat Bracknell 9-0 home and away one season too .....

It's a tricky one to find -tucked off the main road through some gloomy woodland - in the grounds of Eynsham Hall with very little else nearby - which I think is now a conference / venue type set up.
As I've said before you used to be able to see the Hall from inside the ground and the big uplighters gave it a very gothic spooky feel. My kids loved it.

The rise up to Step 3 has meant they've had to build a proper surround. The seated stand is quite a feature too viewed from opposite. Hopefully they've got a bigger sign in off the road now too - I went not all that long ago probably 2021 ...

They eventually built a new bar area behind the goal - think you used to have to trudge all the way back past the Rugby/Cricket Pitches to the old Rugby Club at Half-time for a beer.

Also Mitch Parker was there earlier this season .......

Enjoy!

2009-10 Southern League Division 1 South and West was quite probably Bracknell Town’s most embarrassing ever league season. The club finished bottom of the table with a massive total of 6 (SIX) points from 42 games. Over the course of that season Bracknell completely avoided drawing any games with the six points being garnered from 2 home wins (v Taunton and v VT FC). North Leigh massacred Bracknell by 9-0 at Larges Lane but by just 8-0 at Eynsham Park. The 9-0 was the worst home defeat that season for Bracknell but the 8-0 away defeat was trumped by two 9-0s and the narrow 11-1 defeat Cirencester.

This season gives Bracknell ample chance to exact revenge as the Trophy has just paired the two together at Bottom Meadow in addition to the two league games they’ll play.

I did enjoy it- really friendly club. got there early and the cheeseburger and chips and a pint were more than acceptable !!
Merthyr won 2-0 and fully deserved it because they were the better side throughout.
One other result tonight of interest was Bracknell at Poole- Bracknell 2-0 down scored in 90 + 3 and 90+6 to earn a point.

...and Liam Ferdinand brought back in on loan from Farnborough with one of them too. 8)

Not all that many other games about tonight (Tuesday) but in the same section (Southern Premier South) Winch grabbed a vital 3 points beating Hartley 2-1 - Warren Bentley with both - Hanwell bt H&Y 3-2 in front of close to 500 - 89' winner there.
Chesham stay 3rd - beaten 2-1 at Harrow. Weston -s-M grab back top spot from Truro with a 3-0 win at Dorchester.

In One Central wins for Diddy 3-2 vs AFC Dunstable and Kiddy won 1-0 at Kempston and replace them in 2nd spot behind leaders Ware.
'Tomorrow' night (Wed) sees strugglers Highworth entertain Thame - might make the effort to nip along the M4 for that
- rather than slog up the A3 to Colliers Wood who host Fleet Town in CCL-PS

...in that section on Tue night Jersey Bulls won 7-0 at Sheerwater
- in CCL-PN I saw Flackwell battle to a 1-0 win over Chalfont - must have been nearly 150 there - official crowd given as 131. 'Heathens won it with a goal on the stroke of H/T, following a C St P. penalty miss moments earlier. They join three other clubs on 18 points at the top

In CCL-1 important wins for Sandhurst 4-1 at Camberley vs lodgers Bagshot - puts the 'Fizzers' 5 points clear :
and Berks County bt London Samurai 2-1 at Binfield to move 4th.
Penn & T.Gn shared a 1-1 with Brook House.

Some really great local ties in the FAC4Q. Bracknell v Banbury might be interesting, Woking v Southend will be worth watching. Think Dorking could well see off Eastleigh and further afield South Shields v Scunthorpe catches the eye as a possible shock - is that the one the BBC have gone for?

Well if Anstey pull that one off that’d be akin to Dorking beating Spurs so I guess that’d be a story and half for them.

Dying moments at Bottom Meadow. 7 minutes injury.

Bracknell Town 2-1 Banbury United

Bracknell seem to be about to have their second crack at the 1st Round Proper. Let’s hope it’s not a visit to Lincoln again.

Biggest shocks though were South Shields dumping Scunthorpe 1-0 and Coalville Town’s 3-2 destruction of Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Yup, some shockers there.

Coalville being the biggest…got to love the FA Cup in the early rounds.

Just a shame, it always ends the same

Agree with that. Once it gets to the 3rd round you get all the clubs who can’t be arsed and putting out sides half filled with their kids and moaning that they have to play extra games if they get a draw. Be great really if clubs of that mindset just asked the FA to be excluded from the competition.

Here’s hoping for a long run for as many lower division and non league clubs as possible

For the record Kidderminster drew with Fylde and will face a replay if anyone is hoping for a rematch someday…

All replays are on Tuesday 18 October.

Finally the ball numbers for the draw on Monday are as below:

1. Accrington Stanley
2. AFC Wimbledon
3. Barnsley
4. Barrow AFC
5. Bolton Wanderers
6. Bradford City
7. Bristol Rovers
8. Burton Albion
9. Cambridge United
10. Carlisle United
11. Charlton Athletic
12. Cheltenham Town
13. Colchester United
14. Crawley Town
15. Crewe Alexandra
16. Derby County
17. Doncaster Rovers
18. Exeter City
19. Fleetwood Town
20. Forest Green Rovers
21. Gillingham
22. Grimsby Town
23. Harrogate Town
24. Hartlepool United
25. Ipswich Town
26. Leyton Orient
27. Lincoln City
28. Mansfield Town
29. Milton Keynes Dons
30. Morecambe
31. Newport County AFC
32. Northampton Town
33. Oxford United
34. Peterborough United
35. Plymouth Argyle
36. Port Vale
37. Portsmouth
38. Rochdale AFC
39. Salford City
40. Sheffield Wednesday
41. Shrewsbury Town
42. Stevenage
43. Stockport County
44. Sutton United
45. Swindon Town
46. Tranmere Rovers
47. Walsall
48. Wycombe Wanderers
49. Oldham Athletic AFC or Chester
50. Kidderminster Harriers or AFC Fylde
51. King’s Lynn Town
52. York City
53. South Shields
54. Solihull Moors
55. Curzon Ashton
56. Blyth Spartans or Wrexham
57. Altrincham or Gateshead
58. Chesterfield
59. Alvechurch
60. Buxton
61. Coalville Town
62. FC Halifax Town
63. Hereford
64. Torquay United or Hampton & Richmond Borough
65. Yeovil Town or Taunton Town
66. Maidenhead United
67. Eastleigh
68. Ebbsfleet United
69. Woking
70. Dagenham & Redbridge
71. Hendon or Chippenham Town
72. Weymouth
73. Oxford City
74. Bracknell Town
75. Boreham Wood
76. Barnet
77. Needham Market
78. Chelmsford City
79. Merthyr Town
80. Farnborough

Bracknell, Coalville, Alvechurch, Merthyr and Needham Market (all tier 7) are the lowest ranked teams remaining in the competition.

Presume Bracknell would want a trip to Derby or Bolton or Ipswich for the financial reward esp. as Derby are bound to be one of the TV games.

The FA Cup First Round will take place across the weekend of Friday 4th , Saturday 5th, Sunday 6th and Monday 7th November.

Reading’s game that weekend is the visit of Preston North End which is now on Sky and scheduled for Friday 4 November (8pm) so a decent opportunity to also go and watch Bracknell or Maidenhead or Woking or Farnborough or whichever local side to you remains in the cup that weekend.

...just picked up on a snippet from lower down the NL 'food-chain' round here - it's not even officially part of the Pyramid - the North Baaaarks league is no longer 'affiliated' - so clubs have to shift leagues to progress if they so wish.

Yesterdays' League Cup tie between Long Wittenham and East Hendred ended 31-30 after pens (or 36-35 according to EH twitter)
- someone expressed it possibly took longer than the game itself - and I'd have thought that at the very least it may have been getting a bit dark up there too!
{Edit looked it up they KO'd at 14:00 so were probably OK} 8)

... the clubs meet again in the league next week @ EastHendred.

LW Lovely ground by the way - (Bodkins) tucked away behind the village - also has a 'clubhouse' which looks like a derelict concrete blockhouse - but is actually very cozy inside.

Wonder if Bracknell will ask if they can switch it to Ipswich or even maybe the SCL to maximise revenue if nothing else

Both BBC and Sky reporting the Alvechurch are the lowest ranked team in the competition, despite being one of seven clubs in the draw from that level.

I'm guessing that they haven't realised that the Southern League Central Premier isn't a division below the "Southern League Premier."

Re: The Non - League thread

tmesis Both BBC and Sky reporting the Alvechurch are the lowest ranked team in the competition, despite being one of seven clubs in the draw from that level.

I'm guessing that they haven't realised that the Southern League Central Premier isn't a division below the "Southern League Premier."

....more than likely .... as Coalville and Needham Market do get at passing mention in the article.

They've ignored the other FOUR STEP03/Level 7 clubs, which were covered a few posts above, in this thread.

I've not checked the actual league positions of all seven but I'd be fairly confident that Hendon could be technically the lowest ranked, as they currently sit bottom of Southern League Premier SOUTH - or did when I last looked ?

...a win for them in their replay tomorrow night at Chippenham, earns them a home tie with Lincoln City.

Merthyr go to STEP02 Buxton
S.Shields got a home tie with FGR.

Cracking draw for Bracknell and will definitely be one of the live TV games along with Derby County of course gggrrr. Hope Bracknell keep it at there stadium. Utterly dreadful draw for Eastleigh, what a waste.
