And presumably the player concerned would have been one of Stonham’s 5 selected players for the shoot-out? If so why didn’t Stonham kick up a fuss with the referee at the time and could the referee have sought guidance on the circumstances if unsure? Wonder though if it’s an event the authorities didn’t think of to cover when introducing the sin bin so the referee applied what he though was logical at the time.

At around that time another link was put up, to a different page than their usual online tickets page. I spotted it about 10-15 minutes later. Once registered it said you'd get sent an email with a link.

At the end of Monday I got the email, but there was no confirmation after paying.

I ended up checking my bank account, and saw a pending charge go to an actual charge on Tuesday.

A does seem a bit of a faff, but I guess it's not as if they have much experience of this sort of thing. The sell-out also justifies the ticket price. Bracknell might never play a club as big as Ipswich again.

After a terrible run things seemed to be heading down the same path when Windsor had a player red carded after handling the ball 10 minutes in to give Spelthorne an early lead from the spot.

However Windsor battled hard and came out 4-2 winners. (One of our goals was a pen after it was our striker who handled the ball!)

This is the 3rd goal (in added time).... lovely header and great reaction from long-suffering fans.

Round-up from yesterday's action in 'local' NL

Saturday 29th October

FA Trophy 1st Round
15 A.F.C. Dunstable 0-1 Hanwell Town
16 Uxbridge 4-2 Wingate & Finchley
17 Chesham United 2-2 Lewes 1-3 pens
18 Harlow Town 0-4 Bishops Stortford
19 Grays Athletic 2-4 Stowmarket Town
20 Haringey Borough 1-3 Billericay Town

25 Folkestone Invicta 2-0 Horsham
26 Plymouth Parkway 3-1 Bristol Manor Farm
27 Sun 30th 15:00 Bracknell Town v North Leigh
28 Tavistock 2-1 Binfield
- Slogged down for this – M5 was well-behaved fortunately, so we arrived in good time – nice club with plenty of a scope to expand but they feel they are unlikely to ever find a decent-sized sponsor in these parts. Chatted to lady in their club shop (buying a badge) along with a couple of travelling 'Moles'. Discussions revolved around the respective 'well-being & prospects' of the two clubs recently rising to this level. I think Tavistock are casting envious eyes towards near neighbours and by contrast massively bank-rolled, Parkway.
They are definitely sited on a 'back-water' equivalent of the A-road system- the A386 from the A30 runs down the comparatively little-travelled western edge of Dartmoor: as the A38 is the main route to Plymouth from the east here .
- Hosts have recently progressed rapidly through Western league to STEP04 – first outing for them in the senior non-league competition.
- Attendance just over 200 – fair number of travelling ‘Moles’ too.
- - Binfield played some neat smarter football early on but had no ‘punch’ at all up front. The ‘Lambs’ as the hosts are known, gradually gained control ventured forward more and opened a merited 2 goal lead by half-time.
- 2nd half was all Binfield and though they got one back with about 15’ left couldn’t grab a leveller.

29 Redditch United 3-1 A.F.C. Totton
30 Weston super Mare 1-2 Bognor Regis Town
31 Winchester City 0-5 Swindon Supermarine
32 Beaconsfield Town 2-0 Truro City

Hungerford face another tough away game at Oxford City this Tuesday.

Worthing 2-2 Slough Townatt 968 ‘Rebels’ opener from Scott Davies – equalizing following an early spot-kick, converted by the splendidly named ‘Javan Splatt’ - - visitors then led around the hour mark but were pegged back with 15’ left.

- Jake Jordan sealed it on 95’mins with the 4th – after Luke Appleton had headed them in front around 90’.

Wokingham & Emmbrook 0-0 London Lions
- Top five all win to stay as you were: Burnham top the pile on GD from ‘Yellamen’ who have 2 games in hand – ‘Sarnies’ sit 3rd , ‘Heathens’ 4th – unbeaten ‘City’ in 5th – with VW coming up fast from the middle pack.
- At the foot are Oxhey – with just 2 pts - evidently aren’t finding the transfer south from the SSM to their liking. ‘Sumas’ and Holyport, 6 points better off than ‘Jets’ with only one win apiece; they sit just behind Chalfont.

AFC Croydon Athletic 2-2 Knaphill
Abbey Rangers

Alton 2-0 Camberley Town att 187
Badshot Lea 5-0 Cobham - leaders ‘Baggy Lea’ have only dropped 2 points this season from 11 games – scored 37 and have a GD of plus 30 – but most people’s favourites in this division Jersey Bulls sit within reach and are scoring at a similar rate. They meet at Springfield on 26th November

Noth Leigh returned to Bottom Meadow in the FA Trophy this afternoon following their 6-0 stuffing there in the league last week. Did a great deal better and raced into a 2-0 lead through an own goal and a strike from McCreadie. Jordan Esprit then pulled a goal back for Bracknell with a penalty just before half time. The second half saw Bracknell complete the come back with goals from Jordan Esprit straight after the restart and a winner on 52 minutes from Kameron English.

Next Bracknell are off to Hillier Way on Tuesday for the league match with Winchester City.

Scores from the Southern League Premier South last night:

Met Police (3) 3-1 (1) Hartley Wintney
Salisbury (1) 2-0 (0) Hanwell Town
Winchester City (1) 2-3 (3) Bracknell Town

On the FA Trophy front, the draw for the 2nd round has drawn the following for our more local sides…

Hampton & Richmond (NLS) v Farnborough (NLS)
Tavistock (SL1S) v Hungerford Town (NLS)
Beaconsfield Town (SLPS) v Folkestone Invicta (ILP)
Uxbridge (ILSC) v Dover Athletic (NLS)
Hanwell Town (SLPS) v Slough Town (NLS)
Tonbridge Angels (NLS) v Bracknell Town (SLPS)

Believe ex Reading youth keeper Jon Henley now turns out for Tonbridge so will be possibly renewing acquaintance with Bracknell’s Ramarni Medford-Smith.

Ties due to be played on 19 November

I went to this.

Only 1-0 at HT due to the home side playing like they'd be whipped if not 4-0 up by the break, and being too hasty when a little bit of calm would have produced better results.

They were 4-0 up about 10 minutes into the second half, and with a tad more composure, they could have hit double figures. The Arlesford keeper, a very young lad, also had a great game, and helped keep the score down.

Only 78 there to watch though, and that was a season best for the home side. I often feel Salisbury should get better support, so being the 2nd team in the town must be difficult.

...yeah bit of an odd one - what with BHH currently being top and all but only an average of under 70 - and just above lowest supported Stoneham, who haven't been able to play home games at their new base due to water mains issues.
- and especially when this season's Wessex League attendances are well up - 2nd placed AFC Portchester are (supposedly) getting average crowds of 6 times as many as BHH with a highest of allegedly over 500.

'Harlequins' admittedly are a bit out of the way, over on the extreme western edge of Sarum in/close to Wilton - but fellow promotees Lav. & Ford just across the other side of the City are managing to pull in double their average - and atypically of the league's trend, both clubs crowds are down from last season?

...will try a brief summary of this midweeks games later today ....

However, they will allow clubs to either play on Friday/Sunday or revert back to 3pm if they wish to esp. if the earlier time causes logistical issues.

Bemerton always a poorly supported club. Somewhat surprising given the location of the actual stadium. I dont think the connection with the Slade family which has been there as long as i can remember helps them.

Brett Pitman signing for Portchester is utterly ridiculous. He is the main reason behind their success. Dread to think how much he is getting paid. Results bring gates is clearly working in their favour.

With Claridge finally removed from Salisbury, will be fascinating to see which direction they take now.

...quick midweek round-up

National League
Eastleigh 2-0 Scunthorpe - brace for Vince Harper
Torquay 6-1 Aldersh!t - big win over 'Sh!ts' still not enough to get 'Gulls' off the bottom - but they have drawn level with Gateshead
Woking 1-0 Yeovil - 'Cards' up to 5th - winner from Amond on 84' - 'Glovers' stay in bottom 4
Wrexham 1-0 Maidenhead - att 9.9k - Wrexham stay 2nd a point behind Notts Co who were held 1-1 by Bromley. .
-North
Brackley 2-0 Peterborough Sports - 'Saints' stay 2nd but only on GD now, behind Kings Lynn - who have 2 games in hand. Both goals scored by Callum Stead in the opening 10'.
Kettering 0-0 Banbury
-South
Oxford C 2-0 Hungerford
- Dartford went top briefly, with a thumping 5-1 win over Welling but Ebbsfleet, still unbeaten this season, re-took top spot the following night with a 1-0 @ Havant.

Southern Premier - South
Met Police 3-1 Hartley Wintney - all the goals in the first half, HW stay in the bottom 4.
Winchester City 2-3 Bracknell Town - most of the action in the first 20' here: Bentley leveled on 9' after 'Robins' had grabbed a lead on 2' thru Kameron English - the visitors added two quick goals (English again + 1 from Liam Ferdinand). City's consolation 2nd from Max Smith on 96'.
- Salisbury notched their first win in their 5th game under new manager Brian Dutton, 2-0 over Hanwell

- One Central
- Thame stay 2nd bottom - beaten 2-3 at the ASM by Biggleswade Town
- leaders 'Berko' stretched the gap to 4 points over Ware with a 5-0 romp past bottom club Barton.

Isthmian One Central
- not much action in this division but Walton & H. missed the chance to go 2nd above Marlow losing 1-2 at home to Hanworth Villa - both Villa's goals from much travelled Jason Hippolyte

Four Of Clubs ...quick midweek round-up

Combined Counties One - North
- was primarily a 'Cup' week in the CCL but there was one League game of note on a wet night:
Windsor 0-5 Reading City - goals from D'Cruz (3), Pilling and Baines - all before Half-Time -see unbeaten City up to 3rd.

Might Ascot or Reading City be promoted to tier 8/step 4 this season? I presume they both want to be and that their grounds are up to it.

Could be a bit of a nightmare getting to the Bracknell v Ipswich game. Only 94 parking spaces for the general public, and no trains running on Monday.

There's plenty of other parking within walking distance if you know where to go. If you need tips, let me know.
