RFCMod Another good win for Bracknell on Tuesday night 3.2 against Hendon
Sets up a good game against Poole on Saturday 4th v 5th

When I saw them against Altrincham the other week I've noticed the pace and press of Bracknell has been cranked up a notch and certainly the full steam ahead approach to the top of the pyramid is full steam ahead

The construction of the 3G training pitches starts in May behind the Bottom Meadow ground and Kayne S-B has been over in Sweden looking at the new state of the art 3G pitches with a view to what he put as " building the most advanced training pitch seen"

And not one to dismiss his words as he has put his money where his mouth is so far

Yes, you have to give him credit and team have been immense in their first season at tier 7 (step 3) having beaten 3 National League South sides (2 of them away) in the FA Trophy, one wonders if they could win the play offs if they make them.

Any word from anyone anywhere though on the proposals for the new ground in Bracknell? I haven’t even seen any unfounded rumours.

Sutekh Any word from anyone anywhere though on the proposals for the new ground in Bracknell? I haven’t even seen any unfounded rumours.

I'm sure there was someone here who said they'd heard something a while back, but it is all very quiet.

It's a shame, as it'd be interesting to see what sort of crowds they would be getting if they were still in the town. It must have quite an impact.

If they did go up again, I'd be surprised if they got much more than 500 or so per game. It's very hard to win new fans playing outside of a town.

There will undoubtedly be speculation that they'll just end up and Sandhurst permanently, but I don't think there's any underhand intention to do so. The guy's wife is the daughter of the old chairman of Bracknell Town, so there's a string connection.

More concerning is the prospect of some potential business failure in the future, meaning a withdrawal of funds, which would see the club in a bad position. Historically, clubs that are strongly backed in the non-league game, don't have a good long term future.

Notts Co and Wrexham are neck and neck in the National league. Both at least 19 points clear of the rest. Same thing has happened to Brackley a couple of times and it seems a real shame that both can't go up when so far ahead

I know playoffs are worth some money but be nice if you could dispense with them in this situation.

If Southend are wound up on Wednesday it will put a dent in Notts County’s season as they’d lose 4 points while Wrexham would lose just 1 when the Shrimper’s record is expunged.

Another brilliant result for Basingstoke Town. Crowd numbers going up and up - they need to keep pushing and not let Walton have a sniff.

Basingstoke seem to be a target for other travelling fans and even when they were away. Leatherhead had a contingent come along on Saturday and seemed intent on goading and mixing when not relevant too.

If the did go up, be interesting if they switch them and swap places with Hartley Wintney?

...far from certain that HW will manage to stay up at STEP03 - looks perilous down the bottom there - but I s'pose the powers that be might (for once) make a logical decision and consider swapping 'stoke over, with any one of the 'aitches currently in SLP-S .... Hendon , Hanwell or Harrow?

...or at a pinch Gosport - but they're a bit far west too?

Their task might be made easier, if the three 'western' clubs currently struggling (Chipp'num, Hungerford, Weymuff) manage to avoid the drop down from STEP02 - as those around them in NAT-S, would most likely be nailed on Isthmian bound (Concord, Dulwich, Hampton & R, Cheshunt?)

Knowing the FA and the respective IL/SL bodies view of geography - they're just as likely to shove Basingstoke in the SLP-Central!
...check out Fleet Town's bewildering history of allocation from about 2000, though at least they remained in the SL for last 10 years of it
- (E/S/C & SW :? ??) - no wonder they had the good sense to eventually 'give up' & get 'emselves relegated!
:D

If Basingstoke went up and HW went down - couldnt they do a switch then or is that a ridiculous suggestion? So many local ish derbies in the southern with a number of teams half hour away whereas struggling to find one within an hour in the premier.

No problems at all for Bracknell - firmly denting North Leigh's recent efforts to beat the drop - winning 0-5 @ Eynsham Pk.

Basingstoke also charge on: a 0-3 win @ Ashford, now 13 wins in a row according to twitter? Walton & Hersham manage to keep pace - thumped S.Park 4-0.
'stoke's last dropped points were in December, a home defeat to, of all people... Walton & Hersham! :)

More comprehensive review later ..

.. I dragged myself over to Rivermoor and saw an entertaining 3-2 win for the 'Cityzens' over Spelthorne.

Royals and Racers Cracking game at Maidenhead on BT 3534 in watching the 2-2 draw. Maidenhead looked a decent team against the powerhouse Wrexham side.

Was there, top quality game. Maidenhead have really come on since I last saw them in November.

Bracknell could go third in the SPS on Tuesday if they beat Salisbury and they’d still have 2/3 games in hand plus matches to play v Weston and Truro.

- not been following the case too closely but reportedly the ‘Shrimpers’ scrambled together some funds from somewhere at the 11th hour, to pay off part of the HMRC debt – but another winding-up process is possibly just around the corner – allegedly now being threatened with legal action by their own sponsors?

Wealdstone 4-0 Altrincham
Yeovil Town 0-1 Woking
NATN
Brackley Town 1-0 Southport - ‘Saints’ currently in 4th pick up after two 0-1 defeats
Chester 4-2 Banbury United
NATS
Hungerford Town 0-0 Welling United - a draw probably not good enough for ‘Crusaders’ as all around them picked up points too
– Weymouth stunned 2nd placed Dartford 3-1 – even leaders Ebbsfleet dropped points but still have a lead of 15 points over the ‘Darts’.

Oxford City 1-2 Farnborough ‘boro making a charge for the POs now 10th and have 3-4 games in hand on 3rd to 7th – City stay 5th: only Braintree (3rd) won above Farnborough.
Slough Town 1-1 Worthing - att 633 – ‘Rebels’ stay 6 pts clear of the drop zone but have played more than all below them

SLP-C
Alvechurch 2-2 Kings Langley
SLP-S
Hanwell Town 0-1 Weston-super-Mare
North Leigh 0-5 Bracknell Town - att 183 ‘Robins’ led 0-1 at HT (Ben Harris on 8’) and pulled away 2nd half with a brace from Sanders and goals from Platt and Grant
Poole Town 3-3 Chesham United
Tiverton Town 1-2 Beaconsfield Town
Truro City 1-0 Hayes & Yeading United Truro hang on to leaders W-s-M with a 91’ winner vs HandY - are 2 pts behind but have played 2 games more
Winchester City 1-6 Swindon Supermarine - was 0-3 on 10’ – Bentley pulled one back in 1st Half added time but ‘marine bagged three more in the next ¼ hr to run out big winners and edge closer to the PO spots.
Yate Town 0-1 Hartley Wintney - att 348 - vital win for HW over fellow strugglers Yate gets them back above Nor Lye but still three points adrift of Hendon and safety having played 2 games more: they only have 8 games left to save themselves……
SL1-C
AFC Dunstable 0-1 Didcot Town - top four all win – ‘Diddy’- stay third – Humphries with the winner on 51’
Aylesbury United 1-2 Welwyn Garden City - ‘Ducks’ just above the bottom three.

Reportedly Babbs Mead Memorial Ground only just coped with the crowd
(think it was still three-sided but they may have opened up the far end in the last couple of years - not much clearance to the new houses down there anyway.)
Plans are underway to build a big new stand, to cope with a massive increase in crowds. Seems they have a thriving relationship with the local community and youth clubs/schools etc
