Harpers So Solid Crew Perhaps they are looking at a mentor type role, someone that kinda gees the players up a bit, especially the younger ones.

That's what Lampard Snr was meant to be doing - he failed, miserably.

But you'd also like to think that if we do need new coaches, one who lives locally and who is taking on their first actual coaching role will at least be cheap.

Well, Lamps Snr did encourage Sig to take long shots so he did play a little part as a mentor.

Lamps: I think you should take shots from outside the area.
Siggy: OK.

Money well spent.

We need a development coach now. McDermott/Gibbs will want to work with a core of about 16/18 players, Gibbs in his previous role would take the rest of the pros. Sure that will be the posistion they look to fill.

TBF, without Lamps Snr, the goal against WBA would not have happened.Besides, some of Sig's important goals have come from outside the box.

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Can't see Murts working with the 1st team tbh, maybe part time with the pre academy kids, while he does his badges.

I think we all know Murts has his eye on a media role, which he is very good at. Expect to see him as SOccer Saturday match reporter very soon.

Murts is shite on the telly. The 'banter' with Rosenior Snr and Pearce on Late Kick Off is cringeworthy.

Great bloke and all that, but shite.

How can you say that so categorically? Perhaps someone else would have suggested he shoot from outside the box more often, or perhaps he might have come up with the idea himself?

I'm pretty sure his abilty from distance was talked up for years.

I think they key attribute for any new coach is to turn up to games even if his son is playing elsewhere. I know it's a big ask...

Sun Tzu To be honest I live closer to the ground than Murts, have been around the club longer, have coaching qualifications and would be willing to take £1/hour less than him.

I await a call !!

But could you command the same respect at the club as him? :P

It would make sense with the timing of his announced "retirement" at the present time...
