Don't necessarily think we need two CBs, I think one class addition in the centre would be enough to shore things up. Remember the difference Gorkss made to our dodgy defence after around 10 games last season.

At least one full-back is necessary though.

Completely agree. We need an experienced premier League defender or any remote hope we have of staying up is gone. Dawson from Spurs would be a bit of a coup, and may be beyound our reach or not want to come here. Maybe someone like Upson would fit the bill, but not sure how often he is playing for Stoke at the moment.

We have shown we can score goals at this level, so shoring up the other end of the pitch will give us a chance, thats if we are not already too far behind by then and planning for life again in the Chump.

Worryingly I actually agree with this. We're fine going forward, we have problems CM and defence. Of the above, I'd say RB is least needed as I think Cummings is better than most ppl think.

I disagree. We need two centrebacks, a right back, two midfielders, three new coaches and a new manager.

Ouch

Only joking. A bit.

They actually said nothing would change.

I've said before perhaps not on here i can't remember that we'll see what kind of management they will be in January.

If they are all about the quick fixes they will spend. If they are more about the long term they will take the hit of the relegation on the chin and we'll play the long game like we always have done.

I think its not a case of quantity. Personally I think if we want it to work for Guthrie so he is regularly featuring we either need someone to partner him that can play to his strengths.

Or ...........

We bring in one really good player who we know will perform and who can raise the game of the players around him. We don't really have anyone other than Guthrie who can get the passing in midfield going to the point where we are creating chances. We just hope a flick on or a clearance goes to our wingers and then try to deliver the ball when we can and see what happens.

Don't know why people are so obsessed with Guthrie when we are creating chances and scoring goals. His passing could help us retain the ball so we can close out games but that still means he should start on the bench atm.

Granted but Guthrie would probably be a useful player to have on the pitch when we are trying to see out games just with the fact he would be very good at retaining possession for us.

Ideal It's funny, it's been two years and nobody actually thinks we need a left-footed left wing, it would really make a difference to our attacking threat.

By removing our dependable captain who happens to be the most creative player for us both this season and last? It certainly would make a difference to our attacking threat... a negative one probably.

Just look at the first-touch cross Robson-Kanu put in against Arsenal, a goal directly! McAnuff would have stopped, turned, put it on his other foot, and by then the chance to cross it would have petered out.
Left-footedness is a necessity, it WILL create goals, as proven by Robson-Kanu.

Completely agree, Robson-Kanu is starting to show some real quality. Personally think he should be making the first team on a regular basis.
Maybe McAnuff on the right, Kanu on the left?

Now we've got some of our main players back, the squad looks a lot better. Having said that, another centre mid as cover of Karacan and Ledge wouldn't go amiss. Tabb runs his ass of, but if we were to lose Ledge as well we'd be pretty screwed.
Not sure who's out there/ available who could provide decent cover for Legde though?

Wrong mentality, imho. We should be considered if we can purchase a midfielder who can replace Leigertwood.

Absolutely. What we have is borderline good enough. No good bringing in players less good unless we're resigned to seasons in the Championship.

Liam Trotter (Millwal), Liam Bridcutt (Brighton), would both been linked previously and provide a pretty much like for like whilst retaining the 'bringing up from the championship' way we are operating.

Hayden Mullins anyone?

Zingarevich told Spb.jp.ru: "Arshavin is interesting for Reading.

"But he is one of 10 players that we are interested in."

What's Russia's usual starting line up?

Arshavin's a huge talent, but I don't like his attitude. Might work better for us where he's the big fish in a small pond. But the few bits I saw of him over the summer, he's just way to greedy and out there for himself, not the team.

Inswinging crosses hardly need a touch on the end of them as explained before left footedness is not a necessity as evidenced by McAnuff who is the third best player for assists in the PL. All the top teams play wingers "on their wrong side" as evidenced by Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia and also Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Not surprising that people from less refined footballing nations such as Norway and England struggle to understand the concept though.
