He had broken the record for the most consecutive appearances for an outfield Manchester United player - 207 from 1977 to 1981 - which still stands to this day.


I did not know this - from the uninjurable to retiring at age 28, that must have been an horiffic challenge. An alternative viewpoint would be that he shattered his own knee for all our sins.

I was at the game and don't remember it as 'horiffic' - but it was the old Wembley and I was a long way away and he was only a United player in them days.

I never knew that was his full name :shock:
