Oi Oi Saveloy
JC his one shows there is hospitality, but not with any view of the pitch it would seem. Unless it refers to the disabled supporters.

I must say I think it odd to build a disabled section anywhere other than at ground level

Some interesting things in this doc:

- As a result of the WDC objections they plan to create matchday parking restrictions on the south of the M4. So all those that park and walk there now, tough, there will be eager traffic wardens there to catch you.

- Similar things are being said about street parking in Whitley so I'd expect matchday parking restrictions to increase to "encourage" people to use the ever so cheap and convenient bus service that RFC will provide.

Disabled fans hate to be at ground level - no perspective, and the slightest thing walking in front will disrupt their view.

Actually they would be no worse off than anyone else sitting in row A. No perspective and obstructed by anyone walking by.....

Very true. But it's all about choice - some people love to be in Row A so they are in close proximity to the pitch, others hate it because they get no perspective.

But the non-disabled hopefully have a choice to buy tickets elsewhere - if a ground-level viewing area is the only accessible place they have no choice in the matter.

Cheers Dirk, you saved me a job. Seems a shame that an explanation was necessary.

Oh well bang goes me getting to more than a couple of games next season then.

Better finish nicely midtable so we have somewhere to go for the extra few thousand we'll get the season after next.

Surely if they're not even starting the work until next summer there'll be absolutely no chance of new seats being available by then?

Except that if you are in a wheelchair it's unlikely you'd be able to stand up to see past the people walking past.

I'm sure the East Stand work would start in early May and be finished by August or September :?

Good point actually. Some of the work is already in place from when the stadium was built. That must help things along by a month or two. It's not out of the realms of possibility that the new East Stand could be open for the start of the 08/09 season.

I guess the club need to employ you then rather than the architects and builders they are using, who don;t seem to think it's doable in those time frames...!!!!

The OS says the work will start in Summer 2008. Early May isn't summer, so I'm guessing the work won't be finished in the timescale you suggest.

I'd be surprised if the work doesn't start the day after the last home game.

The football club have said they wont start work now (May) because building work will effect seating during the coming season.

This suggests that the work wouldn't actually get completed over any summer and will creep into the new season. It also means that if work doesn't start until next summer, this will still be the case and therefore effect the seating once again. :?

As mid-Summer is the middle of June, I agree that the work will begin after the last home game. I'm sure I remember a chart amongst all of the things handed out by the club that suggested that the structural work would be carried out during the summer, and the fitting out and finishing could then be carried out during the season. My expectation is that the news stands will be opened in time for the sale of new half-season tickets, six months after the beginning of construction. I think that this is similar to, for instance, Man Utd's expansion of OT (according to what I was told in the pub last night, anyway).

So, I would expect work to begin in May 2008, and to be completed by December 2008. The other question is whether they will expand all three stands in one go, or in two consecutive seasons.

This will already have been factored in, it's the fact that the club have missed out on time to do the preparatory woorks such as moving the road behind the east stand back that has caused the problem.

I'm sure once it comes to erecting the actual stand it will only take a three months at most. With the foundations already in place it'll be as simple as bolting on another piece of mecano. The fitting out of the function rooms, bolting on seats etch will then take time.

Rabidbee was correct when alluding to the initial time scale released. The stand erection will begin around June and be completed well before Christmas with the fitting work carrying on until the end of the season.

nb. I think those timescales are highligted within the first 5-10 pages of this thread.

Half way down - This shows that construcxtion of the stands (presuming the roads etc have been moved) will go from June to September with the fitting work going from October to December, an entire stand built and fitted in 7 months!
