Victor MeldrewTop FlightOld Biscuitman The decision which concedes that your earlier decision was wrong is one of the hardest to make in any sphere of activity. Credit to SC for stepping up to it, particularly when he made a profit from it. In the event he also appears to have out-foxed Keane, no dummy himself.
That is why Coppell is one of the best managers around.
He doesn't mess about.
He could see Halford was useless in just 12 weeks and decided to get rid. Coppell is an absolute genius.
Previous managers like Tommy Burns, even dear old Quinny & Gooding would have been too proud to admit such a mistake! Look how long they perservered with a clearly useless Meaker.
Coppell brings in Owusu, realises he's sh*te and gets rid. Has already done the same with Morgan, Brooker, Halford, etc....
If Coppell was like any of our previous managers and couldn't own up to his mistakes then our current team would be this:
GK: Hahnemann
RB: Murty
LB: Shorey
CB: Sonko
CB: Ingimarsson
LM: Brooker
RM: Little
CM: Sidwell
CM: Harper
CF: Owusu
CF: Morgan
Actually thats not a bad team. But it would be playing in the Championship.
Where are:-
Halls
Brown
Maite
Bennett
Stack
No manager gets it right every time.
I thought it was funny that an earlier poster spoke of Keane's anger about Halford getting sent off again-wasn't Keane in for an early bath more than nearly all of his fellow professionals?
In the reserves buddy!
