I think the fact that the Watford lot are up in arms about him leaving - suggests that we have picked up a good manager here and with his experience gained with Chelsea, as wella s the numerous contacts he will have made in that time - im hopeful the future for Reading is going to be good

Notice how he said he learnt a lot at Chelsea but not in his stint at Reading.

That is because there is no point in stating the bleeding obvious.

Barry the bird boggler I know he's Northern Irish but why does he sound Scottish?

Because he's from Ballymena.

best part of press conference was JM describing Mourinho as 'The Chosen One'......he's got a special knowledge of the game old JM.

I think Rodgers looks a good appointment. That said, I was a bit concerned to hear him say how Jose Mourinho taught him all about respect - that bastard, good manager though he was, only seemed to have respect for himself.

YateleyRoyal What did people think?

I liked him, seemed genuine to me. I suspect he's too new to management to be playing head games. I think he'll bring a new system and a new era to RFC.

You get the vibe he's a no nonsense type. Hunt will be firmly put in his place! Just what we need. Too much softly softly for some of them over the years. This is a great appointment IMO.

I want Brendy Rodgering's babies!!

So that's why he was head and shoulders above all the other candidates.

I am extremely happy with the appointment of BR as new RFC manager; however, when he talks about 'The Special One' teaching him RESPECT, i assume that he has forgotten about the time when Jose showed no respect whatsoever to anyone at RFC following the Hunt/Cech incident in our first encounter at the MadStad.

I seem to remember that Jose criticised everything and everyone...

Still, everyone has their moments and I hope that really is a thing of the past.

Ithink Rodgers was talking about the way Mourinho behaved within the Chelsea set-up. His behaviour towards the outside world was, shall we say, a bit more erratic.

If it wasn't "a thing of the past", I very much doubt they would be coming to us for a pre-season friendly, irrespective who our manager is.

I am really excited by this move. I think it is exactly what the club needed to progress next season.

I will just settle for him being even more successful than Steve Coppell!
