Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Useful on his day (our first season in the Prem, a few games early this season), but couldn't be bothered once he'd signed his new contracts - thus he suffered two terrible post Christmas slumps.

Since January I don't recall him beating his man on any occasion, let alone putting a ball in box. Did get any assists post January? I'd be interested to know the stats. I know we weren't exactly awash with goals in that period, but even Kebe (hated by most) managed a few in that time.

Is it me or is he acknowledging that hes been so bad this season that theres no way its in his or the clubs interest for him to remain at Reading?
A fresh start in league 2 might just do him wonders

I loved him at one point, then I fell out of love with him and now I'm indifferent.

He can go, we can get a bit of money for him and both him and the club can move on.

He is not a bad footballer but he believed in his own hype a bit much. Still he ain't Lita who imho was a tw*t who rocked the boat a la Hazel Blears.

So let him go in peace. Amen.

In the Hunt for move to Prem Lge

STEPHEN HUNT admits it is time for him to leave Reading.

Everton and Sunderland are leading the chase for the Republic of Ireland winger.

Hunt, 27, said: "I think me and the club agree it's time for a fresh start."

But new boss Brendan Rodgers wants Hunt to extend his four-year Royals stay.

If Rodgers wants him to stay and can sort out Hunt's head then I'm all for him staying. In the first 3/4 months of the season he was setting up lots of goals and if he plays like that he's an asset. BUT he has to want to stay and I think it's pretty clear he doesn't.

That's nothing more than a typical throw-away line from a truly appalling newspaper. According to the EP Rodgers will have to rake in around £11 mill in transfer funds, so I would have thought Hunt would be player he would be quite keen to get rid of.

Bit worrying tbh. I hope this just means that he has to sell to buy, and doesn't mean he's forced to sell. Saying that if we could get £11m for Doyle, Hunt and Bikey then I'd be pleased, as long as we then spend a few million on new players.

looking at Hunt i would say:

-He's was the best deliverer of a dead ball in the championship

-He could run a lot

-He had no composure whatsoever in front of goal

-He could not take on the right back

-He has average pace

-He's a twat

-His technical ability is very limited

In conclusion, we should have sold him for £6m last season.

As far as I'm concerned, SHunts interview on SSN was a verbal transfer request; as a result, he should not be entitled to any "loyalty" bonus from RFC should he get his wished for transfer.

Incidentally, If I was Nicky Hammond, I would seriously be considering whether or not I particularly want to deal with SHunts agent; all of this is unsettling to the club and the other players and frankly, RFC deserves better from SHunt - he seems to have forgotton that we made him a Premiership and an International player FFS!!

I would love it if BR were to call each player into his office and ask them to their faces "Do you want to stay and be part of RFC's next chapter, or do you want to leave?" to prevent the tawdry square dance that seems to occur with the same players each Summer.

I do note dislike Stephen Hunt and he will always be remembered as a great part of those two magnificent seasons

However I do think he needs a new challenge and has needed that challenge for the last 12 months

If he does go he will always get a warm welcome from me should he return with other clubs

you can say that now but if we had have sold him we may have signed someone whose all round performance throughout the season may have been better.

Then again we may have just played Bobby Convey all season.

No way in the world is he off to Everton. Their fans are demanding big time signings to break into the top 4 ... don't think Hunt quite fits into that bracket!

Would be great to off-load him. Gets him off the wage bill and we might even get a few hundred grand. A very average player who over achieved in his first prem season through sheer effort. As we saw in second half of last season, once that went, so too did his form. Seemed to get smaller and weaker the longer our dire season dragged on.

Im confident we'll get atleast £1.5m for the bloke. But him moving to Everton would be a joke on Everton's behalf!

Worse still, that's just to "balance the books". Then we have to sell before we buy according to a bbc report today!

It's all about the kids and maybe one or two cheap ish signings. (Tommy Smith for 500k would be a good bit of business if true)

Who's to say Everton want him for their first team? They might be using him as cover - he could end up in their reserves.

Word is they want him as he offers good rates on tarmacing of the club car park ! - Cannot see Hunt replacing any of the current Everton midfield players - id be surprised if any Premier club come in for him - apart from those whose scouts didnt bother to watch him last season!
