Jesus, no one is saying you can make any player brilliant at any aspect of the game. People are saying that you can IMPROVE a plyer's skills.

Long will never have the best first touch in football, but the touch he has can be improved. Or at worst he can be coached to mitigate the effect of the quality of his touch.

No, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear but you can make it into a tasty pork scratching with the right preparation. Or something...

Seal
Royal Rother If that comment staggers you, you must go about in a constant daze... :|

A good coach coupled with willingness and unrelenting hard work can improve any and all aspects of a player's game.

Sorry have to agree with Finerain here. First touch, much like pace, is one of those things that you just can't teach - either you have it or you don't. I played to a pretty decent level, and I've never heard of a player in his twenties 'improving' their first touch. Improving strength, left foot finishing, heading etc yes, but not that instinctive ability to control the football.

Long as a lot of attributes, which I'm sure can be developed, but there are some things with him that we'll always just have to accept.

I agree with that.
You can't coach everything, there are a few things you have to have to become a decent footballer, and he is a decent footballer.
I'm sure Coppell noticed that, indeed he called the young lad 'raw.'

Yeah, clean sheet and a few goals, makes going to the match worthwhile.
Looking forward to it.

That just about covers all possible scores.

Now predict what the team will be.
