Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Mind your clocks/time conversions...

by RoyalChicagoFC » 14 Mar 2010 19:58

Righto, no matches currently scheduled for screening over the remainder of the current season --just a reminder/FYI'zerz that with the US/Canada and UK/EU on differing schedules for making the switch over to Daylight Saving Time/Summer Time, and with the former camp having made the change overnite, it's the occasion once again to become aware of the disruption of normal time conversions and what it means for viewers in the North America

The good news is that as a practical matter, getting it wrong on North American soil would mean showing up an hour early for the HNA? matchday chat/match thread/RW stream/live text commentary scroll, etc. --so no lasting harm done

In any event, here's how things look for the period of time in question and with eyes upon the fixture list as it currently stands:

SUN 14 MAR 2:00 AM Daylight Saving Time took effect; clocks moved forward by one hour in all U.S./Canadian time zones (where applicable; subject to standard local exceptions)

TUE 16 MAR 4:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time --Reading v. Queen's Park Rangers (KO 8:00 PM GMT)

SAT 20 MAR 11:00 AM EDT --Middlesbrough v. Reading (KO 3:00 PM GMT)

WED 24 MAR 3:45 PM EDT --Leicester City v. Reading (KO 7:45 PM GMT)

SAT 27 MAR 11:00 AM EDT --Reading v. West Bromwich Albion (KO 3:00 PM GMT)

SAT 27 MAR 9:00 PM EDT British/European Summer Time takes effect; clocks move forward by one hour in UK/EU, and normal time conversions between US/Canada and UK/EU are restored

SAT 3 APR 10:00 AM EDT --Ipswich Town v. Reading (normal time conversions resumed; KO 3:00 PM GMT)

I'll post again when we go back to normal time conversions on Sunday morning 28th March, and of course would chime in in the meantime if surprising news worth reporting should come to my notice

Right pepys --the purpose here is to inform that the UK and EU are now on summer time, so normal time conversions between the States and over across are back in force (a 3:00 PM kickoff at the Madejski goes from 10:00 AM in New York, 9:00 in Chi, 8:00 in Denver and 7:00 in El Lay --same as normal, and we'll see it in effect come Saturday as our guys play away to Ipswich Town)

It of course also applies to this week's Champions League and Europa League quarterfinal first legs and to Tuesday and Friday's Football League fare with its weighty implications for our bid for a final placement amongst the top six in the division (and be advised that there is a full programme on Easter Monday 5th April that kicks off at 3 PM over across and is followed by another at tea time and one more after that)

Conversions go goofy again for a brief spell come the end of October, and I plan to advise when the time comes

There's really nothing in the way of TV matches for us to enjoy, and no good news on that front is expected over what remains of this absolutely amazing 2009/10 season

Of course, the unlikely event of a berth in the promotion play-offs would see us playing a minimum of two extra games, and I've got to think that someone would have them here

If there's news to report, you'll read it here as fast as your eyes can get you here after I post it

ESPN360 remains a good bet for Championship fare played at odd times, including today's top of the table clash between Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United

In any event, I hope that all enjoy the remainder of this season and the World Cup, and we'll reconvene again as August approaches

Hi Chi - I noticed that with the new Fox Soccer Channel Plus offering, Championship games are now covered - they had Palace vs the Sheepbotherers last weekend. Considering getting it? I will probably do so for next season - depending on availability and cost - if it means a better chance of seeing the lads.

Leicester City v Reading on August 28th is on the Fox Soccer Channel Plus schedule as a delayed broadcast - 4PM Eastern.

Hope they don't decide to drop it in favor of something their schedulers find more compelling...

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Abundant advance notice...

by RoyalChicagoFC » 29 Sep 2010 14:50

Righto pepys --just a pair of announcements...

--QPR away on Saturday 6th November is set for KO @ 11:00 AM Eastern U.S. time; that's one hour later than normal owing to the UK/EU returning to standard time one week before we in the States do; no other matches will be affected by the discrepancy

--KO for the home match with Norwich City on Saturday 13th November has been pushed back to 12:20 PM Eastern U.S. time (5:20 PM o'er across), which means that it's a TV match and one that we're likely to see live on Fox Soccer Channel Plus (a premium cable/satellite channel; the pub-bound should know that Stoke v. Liverpool is the Prem game that'll be going at the same time and up-armor themselves accordingly)

Nothing's been made official this side on the Norwich game, but we're looking good for it, and I'll advise as soon as I learn anything definitive

For additional details about live and delayed match screenings and streamings on U.S. TV and Innert0Obz platforms, please consult the first post to this thread

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Clocks this weekend; Norwich next...

by RoyalChicagoFC » 05 Nov 2010 16:01

First a reminder: UK and EU are back on standard time, but we this side aren't until overnite Saturday/Sunday 6th/7th November

What it means is that we get an extra hour to be in place for QPR away, which is set for a 3:00 PM GMT kickoff at Loftus Road (11:00 AM Eastern U.S. time instead of the normal 10 o'clock) and will end shortly before 1:00 PM EDT

Normal time conversions will be back in effect from reveille on Sunday morning the 7th until springtime

After that: On Saturday week the 13th, the match at home to Norwich City is set for a 5:20 PM GMT kickoff --that's 12:20 PM Eastern U.S. time and 9:20 AM Pacific

Those who subscribe, to the tune of fifteen bucks a month, to FoxSoccer.tv can stream it live, with the pre-match folderol scheduled to go from 11:35 AM (and it appears that subscribers can view matches from an on-demand archive after the full-time whistle)

Fox Soccer Plus --a subscription-only premium cable/satellite channel (available on, for instance, DirecTV Channel 621), have it on their schedule for a same-day delayed screening from 2:00 PM Eastern U.S. time and another from midnite Eastern (9:00 PM Saturday on the West Coast)

It also appears on the one the FS+ schedule for repeat screenings on Monday the 15th from 8:00 PM Eastern and one last time from 11:00 AM Eastern on Thursday the 18th

I'll review it as matchday draws closer and make revisions as necessary; in the meantime, mind those clocks and time conversions

Great work RCFC!

For the Aussies - This weekend the times are back to their normal late time.
The 3:00 PM GMT kickoff at Loftus Road will be at 02:00AM Eastern. Perthites have it great as they are 3 hours behind and can get to bed at a respectable hour (if that is the way you roll of course)

For the Norwich game, unfortunately Fox is not showing the game live. For some reason they think that Stoke v Liverpool will be a better game. They also rate Scotland v New Zealand in the Rugby, and the USPGA CMN Classic. BUT they are showing it delayed at 6:30AM on Fox Sports 1. So turn in, and then wake up at 6:30 and do not connect to the interwebs and you will be good to go.

Only championship match I can see listed on Foxtel is Derby v Portsmouth unfortunately. You'd think the battle of the hoops would be more attractive. I mean, what have Derby or Portsmouth ever won.

Sod that, that's 3.30am in Perth - haven't had to do those hours since I moved from the east, will have to hunt down a stream and watch it online. Bound to be a few floating around come next weekend.

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Mixed bag in NorAm for NCFC (H) Sat

Nuttin' new to report on the North American front since last week --schedule for streams and screenings remains as it was with one repeat added, and I suppose it's only right to mention that Canada gets it live on Setanta...

Note that normal time conversions are back in effect until springtime (NYC time = London minus-5h; L.A. time = London minus-8h, etc)

So then, this Saturday's match at home to Norwich City is set for a 5:20 PM GMT kickoff --that's 12:20 PM Eastern U.S. time and 9:20 AM Pacific

Here are the arrangements again...

On the PC: Those who subscribe, to the tune of fifteen bucks a month, to FoxSoccer.tv can stream it live, with the pre-match folderol scheduled to go from 11:35 AM (and it appears that subscribers can view matches from an on-demand archive after the full-time whistle)

On TV/@ the pub: Fox Soccer Plus --a subscription-only premium cable/satellite channel (available on, for instance, DirecTV Channel 621), have it on their schedule for a first-time same-day delayed screening from 2:00 PM Eastern U.S. time and another from midnite Eastern (9:00 PM Saturday on the West Coast)

The match will end at roughly 2:15 PM Eastern, so "kickoff" on FS+ will happen on about 80' in real time, give or take

It also appears on the FS+ schedule for repeat screenings on Monday the 15th from 8:00 PM Eastern and two final times from 4:00 AM and 11:00 AM Eastern on Thursday the 18th

In Canada: The match is scheduled for a live screening on Setanta Sports; check local guides for details, eh

That'll wrap it for now, and I'll keep eyes peeled for future match screenings

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: QPR (H) Fri 4th Feb Live on FS+

by RoyalChicagoFC » 05 Jan 2011 19:21

Righto, HNY etc

Early word: The match at home to Queen's Park Rangers on Friday 4th February is scheduled for live screening on Fox Soccer Plus (a premium subscription cable/satellite channel that any legitimate football pub carries), with kickoff set for 2:45 PM Eastern U.S. time

A same-day repeat screening is currently set for 8:00 PM Eastern on FS+, although this may change, and additional screenings are a possibility

I would imagine that Setanta will have it live in Canada and shall confirm all that I know as the date approaches; just wanted to get the basic truth out there now and will update in a couple weeks' time

Go ahead and put this one on the calendar and enjoy your football in the meantime

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: Stevenage (A) FAC4R SAT Live on FS+

by RoyalChicagoFC » 24 Jan 2011 18:33

^ Good lookin' out --this arrived with such suddenness that the listings @ LiveSoccerTV.com show us playing away to Brum on Saturday

BULLETIN
The FA Cup Fourth Round match away to Stevenage is scheduled to screen live on Fox Soccer Plus this coming Saturday morning 29th January, with kickoff set for 10:00 AM Eastern U.S. time

Just a single, same-day repeat screening is scheduled, for FS+ at 8:00 PM on Saturday

Fox Soccer Plus is a premium cable/satellite subscription channel --I myself don't get it, even though I'm on DirecTV and subscribe to a "sports tier" for an extra thirteen bucks a month that gets me regular ol' FSC, GolTV and a few other things (but I ain't about to pay an additional fifteen bucks a month --f*ck 'em)

What it means for me and for a few of you is a trip down the pub, and Birmingham v. Coventry will kick off at the same hour as ours and screen on regular ol' FSC; at the top of the hour after full time, it'll be Southampton v. United on FSC, so be prepared to grab your business and flee

For highlights, FSC will have its nightly Fox Soccer Report going from 10:00 PM Eastern on Saturday; on Sunday, the Super Sunday+ weekend highlights/roundup show goes for an hour from 1:30 PM Eastern, and I'd expect our highlights to feature somewhere in there

Canadians, others: check local guides

The full FA Cup Fourth Round Review Show is set to screen on the following days/times/channels
Monday 31st January 2:30 PM on FS+
Monday 7:30 PM on FSC
Tuesday 1:30 PM on FSC
Tuesday 10:30 PM on FS+
Wednesday 2:00 PM on FS+

After that, the league match at home to Queen's Park Rangers on Friday week 4th February remains scheduled for live screening on Fox Soccer Plus, with kickoff set for [b]2:45 PM Eastern U.S. time

Two repeat screenings of the QPR match are now set, with the first for 8:00 PM Eastern on FS+ on Friday nite and the other at 6:00 AM on Saturday morning; the Fox Soccer Report on FSC should have highlights on Friday nite from 10:00 PM Eastern

I would imagine that Setanta will have it live in Canada and shall confirm all that I know as the date approaches; information is spotty, so those outside the U.S. should check local guides as they would do anyway

LoyalRoyalFan What websites normally broadcast this channel?

I think that's pretty much a catch as catch can proposition, and in any case I'd be loath to name familiar portals (~cough~ such as adthe.net ~cough~) for fear of directing folks to spyware village, etc

If it's the second choice TV match in the States (from among seven going at the time), then I've got to believe that there'll be live streaming options

Watch this thread for any news on that

Excellent Brucie bonus! Two live games in a week. Taking Friday off for the big one against the False Hoops and Mrs Ark is away, so I can F & Blind as much as I like.

Re: Reading FC on U.S. TV: QPR (H) Live FRI 2:45 PM EST on FS+

by RoyalChicagoFC » 02 Feb 2011 14:02

Just to remind; no news or changes...

The league match at home to Queen's Park Rangers this coming Friday 4th February remains scheduled for live screening on Fox Soccer Plus, with kickoff set for 2:45 PM Eastern U.S. time

Fox Soccer Plus is a premium cable/satellite subscription channel --I myself don't get it, even though I'm on DirecTV and subscribe to a "sports tier" for an extra thirteen bucks a month that gets me regular ol' FSC, GolTV and a few other things

FS+ would cost me an additional $15 a month, and I won't pay it; any football pub worthy of being called such will be open for business and screening the action live on Friday

Two repeat screenings on FS+ of the QPR match remain set, with the first going from 8:00 PM Eastern on Friday nite and the other at 6:00 AM on Saturday morning; the nightly Fox Soccer Report on FSC should have highlights on Friday nite from 10:00 PM Eastern

I would imagine that Setanta will have it live in Canada --but as ever, Canada, Oz and everywhere else should check their own guides for details about this one

That may be it for the 2010-11 season as far as screenings of our guys' matches in the U.S. goes, by the way --fixture rearrangements for TV haven't been announced yet for dates beyond 2nd April, and we've got a couple of tasty matchups in there (Forest and Leeds --both away and scheduled for the 9th and 23rd of April, respectively, jump off the page) that may tempt Sky to do some tinkering, so do watch this space
