Ian Royal
Tails Give him 3 years and he'll be the man you guys demand from him.

Can we give him to someone else for those three years?

Careful. We may not have the luxury of choice.

s'ok, I would be very unhappy to see him leave for free. He certainly ain't that fricking bad by any stretch of the imagination.

I see no point in this. What actually IS the purpose of a captain on the pitch? What is more important is that whoever is out there takes the responsibility - and by this I mean all 11 players. It is not like in cricket where the captain has to make important decisions throughout a game.

Ian Royal Parky!? Parky made crunching tackles and did the necessary dirty work. I certainly don't remember him throwing hissy fits to the ref, having a sly kick out at someone or brainlessly body checking them. He was hard, but he was fair.

Keane was a oxf*rd.

You're right he didn't slyly kick people he elbowed them in the face and kicked them up in the air in full view of the ref. He shouted obscenities at my mother outside Elm Park when she had the temerity to ask a five year old me who he was. His whole game was about being the brainless old style midfielder who committed brainless fouls so don't make him out to be a Xavi like passing master.

The only reason you love your mate Parky is because he used to con the simpering sycophants in the East Stand by doing that stupid run towards them at the start of the game.He was a below average footballer - hence the reason he couldn't adapt to playing in another position when asked - who over stayed his welcome.

Harsh but fair  he was a danger to the safety of the other players on the pitch

No, he's shown he's not right/ready on too many occasions now. His outburst at McCarthy on Saturday was the final straw as far as I'm concerned.

We really need someone with more maturity and better leadership skills.

Excellent today. Shame he hasn't been for most of the rest of the games this season. LOL @ everyone thinking an FA Cup goal and cleansheet suddenly makes everything else he's done badly cease to exist. Step in the right direction. Now, like Long, lets see him do it in 10 games in a row, then maybe you can justify a nice big LOLLY @ me.

Tails
Ian Royal RL: The list isn't in any particular order, but Howard has experience and plays a role that allows him to interact easily with most of our players. He also seems to communicate a lot and look to play the game the way I want us too.

HSSC: Not much point in causing a load of disruption now, so yes, I'm mainly looking to next season (when I wouldn't be unhappy to see Mills no longer with us).

Tails: Completely agree a captain should be mentally strong. Completely disagree Mills is. Mentally strong players don't throw hissy fits every time something goes against them, give their own crowd the finger for getting on their back or commit obvious, petty and cynical fouls repeatedly for no good reason. Nor do they usually show fairly poor positioning.

Very few people get on Mills' back because they think he's a bad player... it's generally because they think he plays badly, ie isn't mentally strong and doesn't live up to his obvious ability.

Sounds a bit like Roy Keane 8)

My thoughts too.

Explain why? Or are you just basing your view on one excellent performance as a player.

Incidentally leadership doesn't just equal leading by example, there's a lot more to it.
