Top Flight Which youngsters would you blood?

Give Cummings a few more games. It would be nice to see Jake Taylor and Jordan Obita given a few games. Lawson D'ath has also done very well for the academy this season, almost scoring in every game from central midfield.

I believe we should give a chance to players with some creativity or goal scoring ability. We are obviously lacking in that department. I'm not saying that they should be brought in now or be regulars, but it would be good to give them a chance when the pressure for results is lower.

Z175 Yes. Without a shadow of doubt.

Feeling prematurely smug.

Anyone who posted negativity above wish to retract yet? Or going to wait till May?

RAF Royal Thank you Gordons! And I'm a REMF this time Top Flight - safe up in the capital. Would rather be nearer the fight!

If anyone doubts this, I have no doubt it's true. I worked with the Army a few years ago and a young Lieutenant had volunteered for Iraq. I asked her why she was doing it (she had a very safe posting in England) and she replied that you don't want to see your mates in danger while you're safe.

I can't really understand that sort of bravery.

Ian Royal Don't deserve to make the play offs. Will need to show the best form we've had all season to make the play offs. Aren't good enough to make the play offs.

We'll finish just shy in 8th or 9th narrowly missing my target place of 7th. I think we'll do better than 10th or 11th as results will pick up for a while after we've played Norwich, renewing hope we may just sneak in, only to ultimately fail reasonable comfortably.

Standing by this for the time being thanks. Looking like it could be closer than I thought though.

Unbeaten since playing Norwich 8) (although Sheff, Palace & Watford were a little disappointing, but Millwall and Ipswich were pleasant surprises.)

The probabilities are still a bit against, but at least it's more marginal now. At the time of the poll I thought we'd get around 68, but nowI fancy us to get 73-74. Fascinating times for a Reading fan (as usual).

Why are the probabilities against us? It's in our own hands thanks to our goal difference, we are only going to get stronger as players return and we have the easiest run of fixtures on paper.

We are now paying 2.24 to finish in the top 6?
And there is now 58K spunked on us

Well I'd change my vote now if I could. A run in that most teams in our position could only dream of, with the only 2 games against the bigger teams against 2 sides a little out of form. Onwards and upwards.

It''ll probably hinge on the tricky games at Forest and Leeds, but games against teams battling to survive can hardly be taken granted at this time of year.

And we have Portsmouth up next at home, and we never seem to get a good result against that lot.

Our downfall this season has perhaps been drawn games. Draw 3 of the last 9 and we'd probably need to win 5 of the other 6 to make it. Then again, if the teams above keep chucking away points like they have been doing, then who knows?

The teams in the top six have the points. They have better ppg and would be marginally expected to stay ahead. There's not much in it, but it's hard to justify the view that we're more likely to get into the playoffs than Forest or Leeds.

Reaching the play offs It is in our hands wit the games at Forest and Leeds away key games.

Win both I and I believe we will push on to a top six finish.

On the left is the percentage chance of us being top 6 - so now, at 2.24, we are less than 50% likely to make it.

Only £2,122 was bet directly on Reading, but £58k on this market

Momentum / form / run-in would probably make us the neutrals' favourites to reach the Play offs of the teams from 5th down, certainly 6th down. (But not odds-on due to the volume of teams involved.)

I agree with you Royal Rother. We have a great chance now particularly as we have a good run-in.

But surely when you put together the facts that, our game in hand is at home to the bottom club, we have a superior goal difference to all (I think) of our rivals and a rather easy run-in, any predictors of the top six come the end of the season would now include us.

Yesterday's results were hugely significant and even though we could still implode, it's the clubs who are improving (and we are doing so with a squad currently down to the bare bones but with all absentees expected back well before the end of the campaign) who will be most fancied to push on.

All neutrals will have us pencilled in for a place in the play offs and many will fancy us to finish higher than 6th.

If we get to the play-offs, we won't have finished third (or second) and we will be a team with momentum behind us. Therefore we will be bound to get promoted. I'm so excited at the moment - can't believe we're not playing for ages.
