Tredder I cannot see how they don't have an inlet into the English league, obviously not into the EPL, but surely the Cardiff, Swansea and Newport's of the league, dictate that there is a legal way for them to enter into our league structure.

Once maybe, but that was historical accident and those loopholes have long since been closed.

Plus, of course, if they played in the "wrong" league they'd almost certainly be banned from entering UEFA competitions, which would be a massive revenue loss for them.

Don't Chester City (or whatever the reformed club is called) play in Wales?

I seem to remember the club offices, and one stand, were in England, but the entire pitch is in Wales.

I don't support the old firm coming to England in general, although I wouldn't mind that much.

On the other hand I am totally against the idea that they could just parachute themselves straight in the premier.

It would actually go against FIFA directives, I believe, which now state all promotions have to be earned.

I thought that UEFA rules said that clubs could only qualify for their competitions by competing in competitions in their own country - as long as a league exists in that country.

Weren't Cardiff disqualified from the UEFA Cup if they'd beaten Pompey in the FA Cup final a few years ago.

*Disclaimer - I've not checked on this so it's just from a dim memory and may well be wrong.

I meant how would Rangers lose revenue? You can't make much from a single Champions League prelminary match

Well, quite - and in the PL they'd probably not get that.

But, to sadly ruin the joke, last year rangers earned 18,526,000 Euros from the CL.

He brings it on himself. Martin o'neill was never terrorised because he didnt antagonise people.

Who said he deserves it?

He's just been given death threats so you'd think anyone with a brain would keep quiet and professional until it all clears over. What does lennon do? Walks out onto the pitch after a good result for Celtic and starts taunting the rangers fans by putting his hands on his ears.

Complete cretin.

To me the bad guys in this are the ones making the death threats.

Interesting to read your take on it though.
