Red To me the bad guys in this are the ones making the death threats.

Interesting to read your take on it though.

Whats interesting is you attempting to twist it honestly. Lets remember that it was a Hearts fan who attacked him, rangers fans making death threats. Why doesn't that happen to normal catholic managers like o'neill who actually won more against Rangers and was a better manager...giving more reason to be disliked.

Answer?....because he's not a confirmed bigot and wind up merchant like lennon is.

End of discussion for me though, bored of talking about SPL on this forum as there isn't much of an understanding about anything up there.

Red What is that €18M made up from? Just appearence fees, does it include TV money from the game, gate receipts, matchday magazines sold etc etc

Nearly 4 million for qualifying, another 3 million for playing 6 matches, a small sum based on how well they did and a much larger sum based on their TV profile. See Kes' post saying Chelsea had the largest of the fourth figure last season  . There's then another potential 20 million-ish for the knockout stages. Teams get more for qualifying than they do for winning matches.

This is utterly bonkers imo.

Doesn't include gate receipts or merchandise.

You also get quirks like the losing finalists getting more money than the winners (last time Liverpool lost in the final iirc)

LOL @ the age old "people who have a different opinion to me obviously don't understand it properly".

I'm pretty bored of you talking about SPL too so this is a result.

Ian Royal At least Wales hasn't ever really been a proper country and has effectively been part of England for ages.

Incisive investigsative journalism the BBC would be proud of.

My ghast is well and truly flabbered  How much did Barca get? Like, a kajillion euros?

Don't have a problem with Rangers joining...but it has to be right at the bottom of the pyramid and they have to work their way up.

rfcjoe both would receive significant investment, or be bought out in no time and then they would challenge the top 6.

But it's called the English Premier League for a reason. Because it's for English teams. And no, I don't agree that Cardiff and Swansea play in our English leagues either.[/quote]

Only it isn't called the English Premier League. It's called the FA Premier League. A subtle, but important, difference.

No need to beat about the bush just go with "kick kenbatespeterkenyonperterridsdale out of football". Then again I guess I've missed a fair few there.

I'd love Rangers and Celtic in the premiership. It would be fantastic having two more big city teams with whopping stadiums. Like any promoted team, they'd struggle if they failed to improve their squad, but with time they would find their level. It would be better for the Scottish natioanl team as well, and probably better for the rest of the Scottish league. I wouldn't argue with anybody who says they are crap at the moment though. I watched a bit of the last firm game and it wasn't Championship standard.

What utter nonsense, for the first time in a while it was a lot higher than the championship. The last one was 4-2 so you must have been thinking of a diff game because the goals from naismith and hooper in particular were great finishes.

nonsense, and I'm a celt. it's a substandard level of football with a number of championship players in both rangers and celtic's teams, and league 1 and lower in the majority of the others. you make the case yourself; the likes of hooper and naismith - championship quality, and others in the past like kenny miller, bougherra... key players for rangers and celtic but mediocur championship for some, and mid-table others. many many more also, even league 1 standard in both squads.

Interesting that Rangers want to join the ENGLISH Premier league, whilst the Scottish FA won't even allow Scots players to participate in a GB Olympic football team.........

Frankly, this is a joke for so many reasons.

If there was no money in the EPL would Rangers want to join? Er....no. So thats the sole motivation.

So they can oxf*rd off.
