away side goals on 89’ & 90’… pretty poor showing in the Vase again this year, for ‘southern-based’ clubs – only the redoubtable Herne Bay made it through, at the expense of the last Hellenic survivor - and are in the hat with two NE clubs and Staveley from Derbyshire – just outside Chesterfield.CONFS

We stayed in Sluff's league and went back up the M40 again - past Banbury and off the A361 to Woodford Halse - deep in the middle of the middle of nowhere - for:
SOUTH1C Woodford Utd 0-2 Biggleswade Town att 71 - hard to see how on earth they can sustain a STEP04 club here - nice big clubhouse maybe the key?
Game was dire - much as most of the STEP04 games I've been too this season. No real difference in quality between the two sides even though they are a doz or so places apart and the away side are currently in the play-off places.
Very scruffy game on an awful bobbly surface settled by a dodgy pen right on HT and deep in injury time, a wild sliced clearance by the home keeper who rushed out of his area - flew straight to a midfielder who, chanced his luck, hit it first time and managed to find the empty net from about 25 yds.
Mercifully we've only got two 'local-ish' grounds between us to 'complete' the three Southern League divisions - admittedly this excludes about a doz. clubs over 2 hrs away and these often get 'restructured' in/out each season anyway - so I'm in no rush to tick them.

These longer trips that we have to make a special effort for, are mostly around Brum (apart from St Neots, Taunton and Bideford) .
