Snowball
Big Foot I'd be highly embarrassed to be a Reading fan if this plea is answered

Exactly why?

1. It is bad form to wear blue, white or blue and white at a Reading game?
YES
2. It is bad form to admit to being a Reading FC fan?
If this plea is answered, then yes it will be
3. It is passe to wave or show a scarf which is why Liverpool fans never do it?
YES
4. You didn't suggest it? NO - its a gimp idea

My 6 year old is coming to his second game.

He will love this and good for STAR for thinking of something that families can join in on and enjoy.

I will be buying him a new scarf and he can twirl it like a good'un.

Cheer up you miserable so-and-sos. We are going up etc.....

Look! What a bunch of "gheys.." If we saw this at Mad Stad, they'd get laughed out of the building!

Disclaimer: I am in no way comparing Lech Poznan fans to Reading fans.

HNA in 'let's not actually do anything that might show support for the team' shocker. The negativity on here about everything that the club (and /or STAR) does to generate a change in atmosphere is poo poo'd by the hard core of kids (of all ages) who have a warped idea about what really constitutes being a football fan. Strange how clubs the world over can do things like this but you lot still seem to think it is naff!

Snowball
Allyh84 I like this. If Reading propose this, it's branded as LOLATMOSPHERELOL. But if Napoli/CSKA Moscow fans turned up with a few thousand waving scarves everyone would be worshipping it.

Well said. When did waving a scarf become "ghey"?

Miserable sods.

It's already been answered hasn't it. INITIATIVE is something that clearly is not delivered on a plate. Wearing colours of any kind is not Ghey, it is just that some do it some don't. Like any cross section of supporters we have the same schisms and dynamics as any other club.

Let something progress naturally such as a great atmosphere should the occasion deserve it. I am pretty sure the support do not need to be led of encouraged at this time of the season. Or should that read as - i should hope the support do not need encouragement.

Without wishing to be homophobic, it's clearly ghey. I mean check out the photo above - there's a bloke in a leopard print shirt in the bottom right hand corner... I bet they only hold the scarves up to disguise the fact they're knobbing the bloke in front...

Of course CheLOLsea don't have flags or anything do they.

Any how its meant to snow this week. If I wear a scarf it will be to keep me warm. If we score I will probably go mental and wave it around.

Fans across Europe have always done things like this. Putting out a plea on a website for people to wave scarves, at a point in the season where an atmosphere shouldn't be difficult to cre8 is gh3y no matter how you look at it.

English football fandom has lost it's way enough as it is let alone making "Ultra" groups, doing the Poznan and waving scarves... Although if anyone wants to sneak a cheeky flare into the ground then please do

Fans across England used to do this in the 'good old days of football' that everyone (well lots of people) on here hanker after. Scarves and football are inseparable.

Even some of the Southbank "hards" used to sport them

What would be really cool would be a few thousand old style wooden rattles being twirled...
