sandman There's hope for Terry Bullivant yet.

There's no hope for the average footballing intelligence of Reading fans whilst you continue to post on here.

6ft Kerplunk Interesting commet by Madejski on R5 this morning when he was being interviewed about Rodgers. Said something about the people aorund Rodgers not 'gelling'. Hadn't heard him say anything like that before.

On the flip side, the Times says his Swansea players said he made them 'feel like a million dollars'.

The only way you could ever make the likes of crap like Church up front feel like a million dollars is if you bought him a winning lottery ticket.

winchester_royal Right, enough squabbling, how do we all think Rodgers is going to do at Liverpool?

I think he'll have them back in the top 4 within two years.

LOL at "back" in the top 4

Yeah, I've just re-read that and it could look as if I was saying that Liverpool are still in the big 4, when of course I really meant that they weren't in the big 4 to start with.

Maybe in future I'll just stick to an clear "I 8 Liverpool" line to avoid confusion.

Has the takeover failed yet? You sum up everything bad about the average Reading fan these days, full of shortsighted stupidity.

1. I didn't say it would fail, I was told there were problems/hold ups
2. What does TSI have to do with me quoting what Brendan said when he was our Manager?
3. Why is what I said about Liverpool shortsighted stupidity and what does it have to do with Reading fans?
4. We know you loved Brendan m8 but give it a rest eh.

Royal Lady I'd have been dancing around like a mad thing, but he was very understated so kudos to him for that.

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

Would you have been gutted if you were the manager of Reading and we'd won the play offs then? :|

I have to agree with RL on this. He was making the same noises in his first interviews saying it was a long term project of 3 years to turn things around. There's no way they will give him that long, especially when they get close to the relegation places. If he hits the ground running he's got a chance, if he's still tinkering with his team and losing after 6 or 7 games, and still looking to buy yet more players, he's fooked.

I watched his news conference & it was like deja vu. However this time all I could think was what an self-important little cnut he is as opposed to "Ooohh he sounds really good".

This will all end badly & I predict he'll be back at Swansea this time next season.

IF he's learnt from his mistakes with us and IF he can win the players over and make some decent signings, then it's just about possible. But it's more likely he'll fail badly, and I think the best he can realistically hope for is top 6 for the next couple of years.

Screams failure to me.

BR's strength would seem to be getting players that have got technical ability to organise and then play pretty patterns which can unlock a few teams.

Worked with Swansea 'cos that's been their mantra for a while
Didn't work with us as he was trying to get them to do things they were clearly not capable of and had no plan B

Might well work at 'pool as they should have the technical ability to understand and implement the Big Book.
I don't think for a minute he's a guaranteed failure

He doesn't seem to have learned much from the Tommy Smith incident either - that or he's deliberately trying to undermine Gylfi's move to Swansea.

If he really wanted to help SCFC he'd have phoned Gylfi provately, told him to sign for SCFC anyway and wished him all the best - AND SAID NOTHING PUBLICLY.
But no, he publicly says that he's spoken to Gylfi to talk to the new Swansea manager - but, of course, if that deal isn't right he'd be delighted to sign him for Liverpool.

So Gylfi now knows that if he turns down Swansea (who are about to embark n second season syndrome, with an unknown manager) he'll be able to join the relative safety of Liverpool, and probably larger wages to boot. Mind games starting slightly early this season.

Sod Mourinho, he's Alex Ferguson's love child AICMFP

From Despair To Where? Liverpool fan at work was asking me about him yesterday. I gave what I think is a pretty honesy appraisal.

He is an excellent coach and a very good manager who's only management failure was not down to his coaching or tactics so much as him being a massive bell end with a messiah complex who can't handle intense pressure and thinks it's reasonable to go to the chairman asking for money to buy the "right" type of player despite 3 months previously spaffing a sizeable transfer budget on half a team that he then doesn't play.

Or, in other words, he needs to hit the ground running and not tinker too much too soon or he won't see out the season.

It was completely down to his tactics. He tried to get us to play nice passing, possession football when we just didn't have the players for it. And when that failed he had no plan B.
