Royal Ginger Cute

People's parents die all the time, and the vast majority of people, whilst being upset for a bit, get on with their lives without self destructing or turning into superman. In all likelyhood he'll just get on with it.

Didn't Church's dad die a couple of years ago? It's feasible to think that it may have taken some time for the grief to hit him, and coupled with his best mate (Gylfi) leaving the club - it did seem that Church's form dipped quite considerably. Whether that was the case with Church or not, it's very wrong to think that everyone can shake that grief off and continue living/behaving as they always did. It affects people in quite different ways.

TBM His father passed away last night, only 49 too....

I know its not nice but im just wondering how this will affect him next season - it will either spur him on or turn him "wild" - do we still take that risk?

'Sorry Jermaine but we are retracting the contract offer we have made to you, we heard your dad just died and thing you may now go wild because of it'

I actually agree with RL (not for the first time, but I'm not admitting to that). People's parents don't die all the time, your parent only dies once. How it affects you is personal to you. When my sons' mother died last October, they were both terribly upset, but as they were both at Uni, they had to just get on with life. They both had a lot of support from family and friends which helped. The elder one graduates this year, the younger one has just finished his first year.

As far as Defoe is concerned, he felt he had to pull out of EURO 2012, which is pretty much the highest thing he could do in his career. That shows that he has been affected badly by it. Whether he 'gets over it' quickly or not, nobody knows - least of all Defoe.

He hasn't pulled out though, he's expected to return to Poland in due course.

In first year at uni this third year girl turned up in our halls halfway through, she said she hadn't been getting on with her housemates as she didn't know any of them as all her friends had left they year before - turned out she'd not taken her finals as her dad had died...

Interesting story and on topic too.

Yeah, let's wail on 'people get the f/ck on with their lives'.

'Tearing up contracts to avoid being lumped with a sobbing breakdown'? Walk on by.
