Optimist Sorry I didn't realise making money was such a bad thing nowadays. I'm not asking for Barcelona, just a team who are going to be at a similar level to the ones we'll be playing this season.

From what I was told last time we were in this position, playing any European team costs so much that it is hard to make a friendly make money - hence when we played Feyenoord there was a bonus in the form of Royalty Points to make sure the cost of the opposition was at least covered.

Just to raise a "grrrrr" from those who wanted a better friendly or two, apparently Norwich have Borussia Moenchengladbach and Ajax, while southampton have arranged games against Arsenal(!), Rangers, Ajax and Udinese.

Playing a Scottish Div 3 team at home is a bit odd though, although it apparently mightily pissed off Pompey fans, who thought they had a solidarity with Rangers by both being "stitched up" by the tax man.

Stuka When's the goddam tickets for AFC Wimbledon going to go on sale or is it a case of turning up on the day?

Yeah, I'm planning on just turning up and demanding entry.

Guessing the Didcot game on Tuesday is going to be just development squad this year? Shame. Still go though as haven't watched live football for a couple of months and have withdrawal symptoms.

Squad looks interesting for tomorrow night - I know all of them apart from Stuart Moore and Karl Oliyide (anyone know them?)

I guess it shows that Hector, Obita, Sheppard, D'ath are not seen as part of the 25 man squad. Interesting one for me is that Jake Taylor isn't in it? Is he training with the first team, or injured maybe? No surprises here, but prob good news for Taylor......I have high hopes for Arnold, Hector and D'ath. Real shame I am in Dublin so cannot go, so anyone who goes and wants to do a back from the game - would be appreciated.....

A Reading FC XI travel to Didcot Town on Tuesday evening for their first friendly encounter of the summer, kick off 7:45pm.

Development Coach Chris Cummins will lead our young side at Loop Meadow, taking on Dave Mudge's Evo-Stik Southern League team.

New signing Pierce Sweeney is in the squad, while the likes of Karl Sheppard [pictured], Michael Hector, Jordan Obita, Lawson D'Ath et al also get the chance to impress.

Tickets are pay on the gate - adult entry is £9, concessions are £5 while 16 & unders are FREE when accompanying a paying adult [£2 otherwise].

Squad:
Goalkeepers: Jonathan Henly, Stuart Moore.
Defenders: Niall Keown, Nick Arnold, Michael Hector, Pierce Sweeney, Angus MacDonald, Matt Partridge, Shane Griffin.
Midfielders: Ryan Edwards, Lawson D'Ath, Jordan Obita, Charlie Losasso, Aaron Tshibola, Josh Webb, Craig Tanner, Karl Oliyide.
Forwards: Gozie Ugwu, Dominic Samuel, Karl Sheppard

I'm going to make the effort to get to some friendlies this year, albeit local ones for me.
Salisbury, Eastleigh & Bournemouth are dead certs for me

One doesn't want to get too excited but this development sqaud is potentially the best squad of young players we have ever had at one time. Brimming with potential but only time will tell how many will make it.

Does anyone know what has happended to Santangelo. Offered a new deal but not included?

For comparison this was the squad for the same game in 2007:
Hamer; Pearce (c), Golbourne, Mate (Spence 58), Sodje, Karacan (Sigurdsson 65), Bozanic, Henry (Williams 79), Robson-Kanu, Cox, Lita (Church 58).

Similar ages apart from one or two and 9 of the youngsters are now playing in the Championship or above, not bad going.

Saw on the FB page someone saying Santangelo had signed for a club in Germany, didn't say who though

Stuart Moore is 17 and spent last season on loan at Hungerford and got pretty rave reports. Here's when we signed him: http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?newsmode=FULL&nid=79121
And here's a bit on him when he was out on loan: http://thetilehurstend.wordpress.com/2011/10/06/reading-fc-loan-report-6-october-2011/

And just saw this too

Curtis Osano: I'm excited about my new challenge at Wimbledon

WDON commentator Rob Cornell caught up with Terry Brown's first close season signing, Curtis Osano, at the start of pre-season training.

The ex-Luton Town right-back believes there are exciting times ahead at AFC Wimbledon and he can't wait for our pre-season friendlies, starting with his old club Reading on Saturday, 14 July. To listen to the interview with Curtis,

Didcot 0 - 1 Reading (Obita)

Very impressive first half so far for him, and a cracker of a volley from about 7 yards for the goal.

2-0 now. Sheppard with a simple finish after the keeper gifted him a goal.
