Really hope this is just another wind up. Good player but not for us.

He would be too expensive and as a lot of the time we will probably play 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1 he would almost certainly just be on the bench, as we already have Pog and Roberts - who are better suited to the holding role. Frankly I don't see we need him as ALF can do a perfectly good job coming off the bench if we need a goal later in the game.

Pointless waste of money if this goes ahead.

So far Anton/NH and BM have brought in three great freebies and I just don't see them splurging cash on a pointless signing.

Care to justify why?

Roberts and Pog are similar -- big players, can hold the ball up, bring others into play and chip in with goals.
Then we have a natural finisher in Alf, and a work horse who will offer little but huff and puff in the Prem, in Hunt.

How is an England international striker, and fantastic finisher like Defoe not for us?

Why would you like us to play three strikers or four? At the end of the day we will play two sometimes and one at other times. We have Pog and Roberts - might be getting Rhodes - who I would infinitely prefer to Defoe and ALF and Hunt deserve a chance in the PL off the bench. There is no place for Defoe.

The revolving door at the hotel has hardly stopped turning today.

this one re-surfacing again - well, at least according to my man on the inside.

allegedly transfer fee agreed with spuds and salary terms agreed with player. just waiting for him to decide what to do.

Can see avb not including him in his plans for Spurs this year tbh but wouldnt be surprised one bit if he went to West Ham

Your man on the inside... Reading, Spurs or Parkhurst? Awesome signing but I think a host of other clubs will be alerted over his availability.

certainly would although I can't forgive him for the way he left West Ham, he is still a fantastic foward and probablly the best natural goal scorer England have and it's hard to understand why he has struggled to get into the Spurs starting 11 ..

Personally I think its the height thing depending on what system Spurs have played in the past.

However we play Defoe with Pog I think you've got a potentially awesome partnership there. Never mind Big Bad Wolf from the bench or stepping in for injuries/suspensions etc.

even Defoe alongside Roberts will be a handfull for some defences if we're going to use Roberts or Pog as a big target man to hold the ball up then Defoe with his pace is the ideal striker to have along side to pick up and run onto the ball .

Not as if we can't splash out a bit of cash we got all of our players practically on free transfers via 1!.

Just the wages I suppose that might become an issue.

Yeh, that and the fact he's got his pick of any team outside the top six.

Doubt that to be honest. As far as I can gather Defoe is immensely unpopular at Upton Park.
