Brian: The right decision?

To me this is the right decision only if we assume that Brian was out at the end of the season anyway. Even if he had stayed and avoided relegation, I'm not positive AZ had the confidence in him to let him continue, and if we are relegated he would have been doomed regardless.

So under this assumption, why would we keep him around for nine more days, especially as our chances of survival wane quickly? I would much rather see a new manager come into the club with a few months to familiarize himself with the current squad, figure out who needs to go, who he can build a squad around in the future (either Prem/Championship), what needs he will have for any system that he is going to impart, etc. Throw a new manager after the season is up, he doesnt get nine games to truly learn about his players.

Further, if we hire now, we still may have a slightly better chance of hiring a more high-profile, experienced manager--someone who wants to take a crack at keeping us up. If but if we wait till the summer and are relegated, many of these managers will likely lose all interest. (The last point is really a long shot anyway, but still something to consider)

With the dust settling after the sacking of BM, Im asking you lot, do you think it was the right decision?
Seemed like the fans were slowly losing patience, but this was seemed to aim towards more of the club, and players as well as BM, but now hes gone a lot of people on here are calling for him back.
So, was it the right decision or not?
Brian will forever be a hero.

Maybe, in addition to this thread. You could create a thread that speculates who the next manager might be and then a few more individual threads discussing the merits of each candidate in turn. That would probably be the best way to do it.

This is my first posting and I fully expect to get a tongue lashing from some of you, as nobody has made this point on here yet I feel I must.

I think it was a dreadful mistake to sack Brian I could have understood if it had been done in December, new manager new players in January might have worked, to sack him now when we are down anyway, not mathematically but every one must agree we need a bit of a miracle showed inexperience and immaturity by Zingy.

I firmly believe that Brian had more chance than anyone else to keep us up and much more chance than anyone else to get us promoted from the championship again next year, having done that being a much better manager in the premier next time.
I'm sure if it didn't look good in the championship next year and Brian was in charge he would probably do the honorable thing anyway.
I felt it was a mistake at the time and even more so now.

If it's true that SJM and Squeeky "begged" him not to sack Brian, our Russian owner is a c*nt of the highest order We've just lost one of the major reasons for our success over the last decade and no one we appoint will replace that.

I would welcome Adkin's here simply because he has shown himself capable of getting teams promoted to the top flight........................but Brian McDermott is still the man best suited to managing this club in the Championship.

Frankly, our new owner has 12 months to show he's not Abramovich Mk11 before my seat goes on sale for the first time since 2001.

In the meantime, he may wish to extend the East stand. This would mean all our Glory hunting/booing twats could be housed in one place, thus allowing the demolition of all other stands with a view to expanding the retail park.

This, in my view, has been the darkest week I can remember in my time as a supporter and I don't see a reason to attend for the foreseeable future.............................
