Affordable membership, yes it is lacking that. Which is what Bearwood offerred & why its upset a lot of people. RFC: Community wrecking club.

Golf is not a community game - it's a game for wealthy toffs who have nothing constructive to do with their time - it always has been. How many kids do you see running around a bloody golf course on a Sunday morning??

I live next to Bearwood golf course. I couldn't give a toss if they tear it down.

 Club Policies for future discussion. To me, its just another example of football clubs becoming 'brands' you hate rather than 'clubs' you love. They are bulldozing a club that provides sporting access for an awful lot of people, most of whom cant afford golf membership, are retired and just looking to keep their lives socaila and active. Clearly the football club and you dont give a fck about that. I doubt your the only one with that view either. See 1. above.

Just

Those people could just go to another golf club, it's not like there is a major shortage of golfing space anyway.

Just because people show that they're gradually finding the club's values are eroding away they're somehow off-message and need to revert to turning up to matches in their jester's hats, waiting for some disinterested, non-playing, rich chav footballer to sign their RFC pillow cases?

Clue: it is possible to be a supporter of the club and not entirely subscribe to what it stands for these days :!:

Speaking of reasons to hate the way football has become...

Hull City: Tigers chairman dismisses fans' protests

Hull City chairman Assem Allam has angrily dismissed the efforts of fans to dissuade him from renaming the club.

Supporters' organisation City Til We Die has voiced hope that the Football Association can stop the club name changing to Hull Tigers.

"I honestly don't know why the fuss, why a small group are making all this fuss," Allam told BBC Radio 5 live.

Formed in 1904, they first wore black and amber shirts for their maiden Football League campaign the following year. They moved to their KC Stadium home, which they share with Super League side Hull FC, in 2002, after 56 years at Boothferry Park

"Nobody in the world will decide for me how I run my companies, certainly not a few hundred people."

He continued: "No, no, no. I will not allow that. Let us establish this - nobody questions my decisions in my business."

The Egypt-born businessman first announced in August the company name had changed from Hull City AFC to Hull City Tigers. Allam stated a 'Tigers' brand would be more marketable, and considered the word 'City' to be "lousy" and "common".

The 74-year-old, who moved to Hull in 1968, said he had to find other income streams for the newly promoted Premier League outfit as the KC Stadium is owned by the council.

A decision on further shortening the club's name to simply Hull Tigers is expected to be made early next year. But any such plans would need to be ratified by the FA.

Allam has told the Guardian the club will announce this week that it made a loss of £27.8m in its promotion year, with the accounts also set to show he has put in £66m since taking over in December 2010.

Having said that, why can't we ever find an owner that is prepared to pump money in? At best our owners loan the club money.

Surely if the ground was flat enough to consider as a training ground, it would be a $hit golf course.

Couldn't they just play golf around prospect park or something? Dig a little hole on one side of the park and hit the ball from the other side over the loony bin or through the wooded area in the middle. Best of all, it's free. I knew someone who used to do this at ashenbury. It's not like anyone even goes to parks in Reading. They're always empty.

I think there is a major difference between a local golf club and a community stadium/centre that serves a large proportion of the town's population.

Don't knock it - the final hole where you have to putt it through the opening and closing legs of a model of Abraham Lincoln is a beast.

What evidence exists that the club is run well administratively? From my dealings with the club over many years, the reality is the complete opposite.
